Scratched Disks - Any 'Solutions' ?
Hi
I purchased GTA4 off someone on another forum (avforums). The game has a scratch on the label side and apparently can't be fixed from resurfacing as I found out when I took it to a shop.
So now I'm basically in possession of a snazzy looking coaster. Are there any other ways I can get a working disc ?. Is renting one from Blockbusters and swapping it an option ?
Cheers

The scratch is on the topside of the disc, the underside is fine. Its pretty deep so is most likely affecting any data that is parallel to it.

If its that deep then I doubt it!
The toothpaste/ brasso method only smooths the scratchs to prevent the laser reflecting and being unable to read the data.

Oh well, I've sent a 'get the violins out' style email to Take 2 Interactive. Its unlikely but they might hook me up with a new disk

As the top (reflective) surface is damaged then the laser will not reflect so the disc is fcuked

That's what I was going to suggest, I believe alot of companies will replace scratched discs for a small fee.

Nah I never knew, the w*nker really done a number on me. I paid by paypal but as a gift so I can't even make a dispute against him. He ain't been on the forum for about 2 weeks, so he's done a runner for the sake of £15.

Ah man, i think you can get it from Blockbusters for £12

I've notified the mods and its been moved to disputes. That was about a week ago. I won't bad rep him yet in case he comes back. Never know he might have a legit reason for not being online.
