Home Made Cider
he misses and i moved into a new home about 4 months ago for we have started a family and wanted a Family home. We choose the house mainly due to the garden - massive for what we could afford in the area (100ft). In the garden we have a load of different fruit/veg/nut trees - which again is Awesome!
We have a shed load of apples coming soon, we also still have a load of strawberry/raspberry/rhubarb/HazelNuts. I want to make cider!
I was looking a cider press and those things seem ridiculously expensive, which for all sense and purpose are just a big vice. I then watched a video recently about some old boys using regular kitchen juicers to make their cider - seemed a lot easier/quicker.
So comes the question from DFers experiences. Have anyone had any good success in making cider? Anything to be wary of? Could I get away with buying a £30 juicer instead of a Vice? Any links to the best (Budget) locations to purchase the fermenting Jars?
More importantly how do i convince the misses that the investment of cider making materials is a sound investment for our family future?

Re: Home Made Cider
juicing and maybe extra filtration may work, also search for "turbo cider" to test the waters. Can be made in old pet bottles as a sample batch

Re: Home Made Cider
Thanks for that - is it right that you should feel a little trampish for making your own cider? Is this the middle classed version of drinking white lightning on a park bench?

Re: Home Made Cider
only if you drink it warm and sat on a blanket in town with a scruffy dog
