A new clutch and pressure plate every month. Must be a record.
I doubt anyone here has come across this situation before.
Car came in to my mates garage last month with a clutch pressure plate that had broken up and come through the side of the housing. The pressure plate and the flywheel were badly discoloured through excessive heat. I was surprised when my mate told me it was the third clutch that he had fitted to the car in six months. The woman who owns the car is 90+. It's obvious from all the dents on the car and the badly damaged wheel trims that the woman should no longer be driving. My mate has done the responsible thing by telling her nephew who looks after her.
My mate took her out in the car to try and explain where she was going wrong. What he found was that she had the throttle continuously to the floor and was slipping the clutch to control her speed. No amount of explaining worked so four weeks on the car is in for another clutch.
How the engine has survived I don't know. (">

At least he knows he has a regular source of income :roflmao2:

Perhaps a auto would be better for her.

I would probably inform the Police.

DVLA need to know, she could kill some poor sole. If anything needs an eye test as a bare min.
Re: A new clutch and pressure plate every month. Must be a record.
This is exactly why some type of practical test needs to take place for everyone every five years or so.
Re: A new clutch and pressure plate every month. Must be a record.
Take the fucking old bint off the road, make it mandatory.
I believe once you reach 80, you should be tested every year. The level of deterioration from around 80 on wards is startling in drivers. Working in insurance, the sheer number of claims received from older people is staggering.
Common scenarios being, bumped into objects, other cars. Not often serious, but with every bump is a claim. And with ever claim, is costs, and how do insurance companies recover the costs, premiums!
I digress, to the OP though, fuck me, squeal like a banshee comes to mind :D

Do old people pay mad premiums like youngsters?
