Anyone here own a Dremel?
I was looking into buying one of these as I usually have a few projects on the go which require fine sanding or detailing/drilling etc
Just wondered if anyone on here owned one and could give me a few tips on what to look for and what model to buy etc?
Re: Anyone here own a Dremel?
I don't have a dremel bit did buy this which is similar and I find it great for small projects.

Re: Anyone here own a Dremel?
I've had one for years. Great for all sorts of jobs that a full sized power tool just cant do and a lot quicker than cutting/filing/drilling with hand tools. I guess they a just motor with a variable speed controller so it doesn't have to be a Dremel as Ashley said. The Dremel attachments do seem to last a bit longer than the cheaper ones I've used from Maplins and Ebay though. The most important accessory to buy with these are safety glasses, these things spin a thousands of rpm and the cutting disks especially like to break and fly through the air. If you have a pretty good tool kit then this along with an oscillating tool is a great addition.

Good shout with the safety glasses
Re: Anyone here own a Dremel?
Used to use one in a workshop with variable speed peddle, great for grinding out rivets or small areas. Also used it with 0.5 micron diamond paste to polish out a scratch on a saphire crystal watch glass. As with everything, you get what you pay for.

I bought the Aldi version a few years ago. Brilliant little bit of kit for all sorts of jobs. Especially good for ragging out old tile grout before renewing.
Re: Anyone here own a Dremel?
I got one, used it twice in 3 years LOL
Re: Anyone here own a Dremel?
I've had one hearts variable speed
Load of crap for anything other that light or hobby use tbh.
Re: Anyone here own a Dremel?
yeah thats what im wanting one for. this project i have been doing required a lot of fine sanding in akward places so a dremel would have been ideal.

i have had cheaper ones and now own a dremel and must say even though it doesn't get used an awful lot it is a bloody good tool to have.
Worth every penny if you ask me.

Re: Anyone here own a Dremel?
I drilled my nail with one other month (if you remember the video) and it was a cheap alternative, the drill bits were blunt as.
Buy cheap, buy twice.
Re: Anyone here own a Dremel?
They have a decent deal at Maplin at the moment. Should be £29.99 but half price.
Picked one up for a backup.. Not that bad, but quality isn't as good as a dremel.
