Re: Request For Jobs? 07.11.07
Desperately seeking employment.
Married man with 3 kids, aged 30 searching for practically anything that will pay the bills.
Been signing on for quite sometime and cant seem to find a job with a pay that will help support me and my family. I guess I'm looking for something between 18 - 25k in the South Essex/East London area's.
I consider myself a self taught computer professional and have had numerous temping jobs from the strength of my current CV.
I have had loads of temping jobs, but have never been offered a job full time from any of them. Since leaving college which I attained a Providing Business Services DVE (glorified name for a Word and Excel course) I've had 2 Full Time permanent positions working with computers.
My main job title was Document Imaging (Scanner operating), I would prefer not to go back to this field though as it always seems as though the jobs are 'Dead ends' and career prospects are 'bleak'.
Although my work track record doesnt sound great, I have worked as a temp for some large companies operating out of London. One being a multi-national financial services company (1 year, IT related/Data Entry) and the other was a huge Insurance Underwriters firm operating out of the Lloyds of London (also Document/Data Entry).
Although my qualifications dont sing the correct tune on paper, I CAN prove myself within the workplace extremely quickly. Positions I have held in the past have all explained I am limiting my job searching too much because the skills I possess are far better than I myself give credit for, but the catch 22 is they are not on paper!
I am willing to train for courses, but as money is tight at the moment and courses are expensive, daunting and I'm unsure where to look, I have so far, steared clear of them (perhaps stupidly).
I believe I am suitable for 1st or 2nd line support within the workplace as I am an extremely competent computer user with 'self taught' experience in IT and can build them from scratch, install ALL software including Firewalls and Antivirus software to help maintain a problem free computing experience. For all my family and friends, I am their first port of call should a problem arise, for which I usually repair there problem online, remotely, via Remote Assistance, unless a Windows XP/Vista Re-install is required.
I have also held a position a fair few years ago as a Computer Engineer for a local computer shop, repairing home user customers, which went bust (also a temping position!)
Bottom line is I'm looking for advice to get into a 1st/2nd Line support career in London/South Essex.
Details on courses a Job Seeker can embark on (cheaply) or vacancies perhaps willing to train. It's probably all out there, but I cannot see the wood for the trees for some reason.

Re: Request For Jobs? 07.11.07
Ok to cut a long story short, I'm fed up with everything lately, Surely some of you must know what its like to need to just leave for a bit and clear your head?
I dont have any skills really, have experience of working in a few kitchens and Call centres, also in a few warehouses.
Basically I want a job thats a live in.
E.g Hotels or Bars.
I dont mind the crap wage, I just want to get out of my grimey home town for a while do some work and read my books.
Not asking for much, just need to clear my head and chill for a bit.
However I have only got about £200, and that wont do much for me at all.
I have applied at PGL, for those of you who don't know what that is, its a place that spoilt children go on holiday :D.
Its a live in and it pays ok, However just wondering if anyone knows of any other jobs like this?
Tried the seasonal work websites, but they just seem to send me in loops :(
Location; Down South, Devon, Newquay, Any where that's less like here, and a bit fucking warmer! :D
Pay: Not really that bothered at all. Just not Peanuts :D
Any help would be great.
Cheers!
Peace
