Boot Disk help pls
Hi,
I need to make a boot disk for my neighbour's WIn 98 system, but am on XP. is there anyway I can do it myself?
I'm going by the instructions here: http://www.mvps.org/winmac/bootdisk.html
I formatted the disk ok, but can't make it bootable, as I just get errrors.
Anyone help?
Thanks

Cool,. but don't I still need to make the disk bootable ?

Do you mean a floppy disk or a hard disk?
If it's a floppy then those images will boot straight up - nothing you need to do..

Ahh, downloaded it now so see it'll do all the work.:)
Cheers

Sorted the boot disk now.:)
Cheers for the offer Fireman.
Shame I couldn't reinstall windows on that PC though, lol, the contents of the boot disk were copied to the PC and I couldn't install it so I gave up, lol

Hmmm - a couple of things in that case then mate..
You say you can't install Windows - why?
Did you make sure that the partition was marked as 'active' in fdisk?
Did you try running fdisk /mbr ?? This will rebuild the master boot record.
Also, the format /s command should copy the boot files over..

Hi,
All I done was stick the boot disk in and it went to DOS prompt after doing it's business.
I used DOS commands to see what was on the HD, but I seem to have got the contents of the boot disk, so can only think that the boot disk was copied to the HD?
And I think that was the reason Windows wouldn't install.
Not really bothered anyway, he's toook it back to suppplier I think, but helps to know what went wrong anyway.:)
