Adverts after Java update (I think)
I installed Chromecast last night - works really well.
But Google Chrome needed a Java update it said.
I think this has sneaked in too:

I can't see an uninstall for anything new, but still have to run Malware tonight.
Anyone recognise this advert thing that#'s sneaked ion to all my forum pages?
Bilbo.
Re: Adverts after Java update (I think)
Go to chrome settings, change default search engine and remove any weird ones. Make sure chrome home peg hasn't been changed and look at wht pages re set to open with it. Go to extensions nd remove anything dodgy.
Using ccleaner look for any programs that need removing such as search protect, anything by conduit etc. then run the cleaner, repair the registry and go back to the tools tab, then startup. Disable anything you don't need to run at start up and delete anything that's dodgy. Go through the next tabs for web browser startup etc and disable/delete what you don't want.
Now run Adwcleaner and remove anything it finds, then run malwarebytes antimalware. Then you should be clean.

I love how it is 5 articles about the Power Lotto, followed by choosing the right loan!
I also get adverts but I thought it was due to no VIP ?

There are no adverts on DF apart from the odd signature one so anyone seeing them has a problem with browser hijacking.
Re: Adverts after Java update (I think)
Must be some plugin on chrome as above, investigating now.

It's more than 'just' a plugin
Re: Adverts after Java update (I think)
It is the work PC (I use tapatalk from home) - Their systems are locked down. I cannot access sites like funstock.co.uk for example because they are classed as 'Games'!
So something has crept through the system.. Although they do expect us to use IE (urgh) and I did 'sneak' Chrome on.

Very good chance it's now the same in IE
Re: Adverts after Java update (I think)
I found something called Freeven. I think it came on the Java update as a tick box which had scrolled out of view.
Will still run a malware later though.
HOwever, deleting it failed to stop the ads so restored the PC back to end of last month. That's fixed it, so now need to add Chromecast again, but more carefully!
Cheers guys.
Paul.
