i had sky installed today, whilst installing the engineeer used a yellow set top box which seemed to get every channel, the engineer offered me one of these boxes for £100 would it work and is it worth £100?

Do you actually mean a set top box, or do you mean his hand held meter, its about 9 inches tall by about 5 inches wide? I certainly have never seen them use anything much other than the yellow digital meter.

no it was a stb same size and watched sky1 on it
Well you've got me there, never seen one in use, there are meters, the more expensive ones £2000 plus that have their own screen and can view FTA digital satellite channels. But I can't see any real advantage to them having a working digibox, as they are useless for dish alignment.

there just basic sky boxes no different than the one you use but for the top being painted yellow
