Default Unlock Iphone7 still under contract

I have a 2 months old Iphone 7 on EE which I want to give to a family member. The contract sim ill be continuing with in another phone so the contract will still stay valid.
Now, the person im giving the phone to is on Tesco's & i EE wont unlock the phone as i need to of been using it for 6 months before i can make a request.

To get round this, if i were able to find someone who is currently on Pay&GO EE/virgin which has been for over 6 months, and ask them to submit an unlock request using there mobile number and my IMEI.. would that work ?
I have submitted unlock requests in the past from various networks & they always ask for the IMEI, so that along with the details of the current user (valid mobile number for 6 months old+) then i should be set ?

    Thanks to josweet

Doubt it will work but no harm in trying you've got nothing to lose

Good luck with that mate. The last one I unlocked on EE
took over a month and two repeat visits to the shop .

The number is often latched to the IMEI so you would need to borrow a sim from someone, use that in the phone for 24 hours or so and make calls during that period then request the unlock. See what they say in the shop though as they may allow it now.

Im planning on taking it in today. If they ask, ill simply say it was a present & thats all i know. If it comes to it, ill get a Pay&GO sim & try that.

Took it in & got the usual salesman bullshit. Went from not possible to trying to flog me some deal within 2 minutes lol.. He told that "allegedly" apple are the ones that wont allow EE to unlock it within 6 months, & that its not possible to get Tmobile sims now & Virgin sims wont work in it either.
Back to the drawing board then.

3rd party iPhone 7 unlocking that can be done for uk are EE, 3, O2 inc Tesco but for i7 you will need direct source higher price option rather than standard only one can't be done at moment is Voda but sure they will direct anyway

Nope - you can't get around it without getting your mobile provider to do the unlock. They get apple to unlock it on the activation servers. You used to be able to do a baseband hack that would work but not for a long time.
