    Nice kit but too expensive.

The Pi is pretty much bang on as regards price vs horsepower vs flexibility I think. £50 buys you a complete kit inc psu and case.

I reckon if Asus had stayed below the £45 barrier (which I'm sure they could have) then they would sell bucket loads of them, but at £55 plus all the needed extras people will just buy a Pi

Yes I noticed after posting that the £45 quoted was ex VAT.

I really like the look of it and as I personally have always found ASUS gear to be solid and reliable I am still possibly tempted... not sure. As you say it is just that little bit too much

Well if you want 4k then you'll probably have to go for the Asus but I think once you factor in the extras you need to buy such as psu, case, storage etc, you're looking close to £100. You're heading towards dedicated TV box territory then or even small form factor PCs.

I think you are right. Great idea just not the right price point. Will keep an eye out for second hand in a few months time ;-)

if they could have price-matched the Pi (or close to it) then I think they would have a great product that people would want but its too expensive at the moment for an impulse purchase
most people I know who got a Pi originally bought it because it was cheap and looked fun, not many had a definite plan of what they wanted to do with it

If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

Not sure why but they have confirmed it will not run Netflix 4K but will do h264 etc. okay - so Kodi would benefit

Don't think I'll bother though. My Pi3 is more than adequate for it's purpose.
