Looking at using smartdnsproxy.com as it's coming up as $39 for 2 years.
it comes with VPN access too so thought it was a good deal but the free 14 day trial doesn't allow the use of their vpn.
If anyone has used them are they reliable?

I use it but dont pay lol. It comes up as a free 6 months or sometimes even a year trial several times per year. sign up for sharewareonsale....They send you an email once per day and this and other handy to have software does come on there totally legit and totally free.
As to the question of reliability - Yes they are absolutely spot on. You can just change your dnd to look at geo locked content. No speed decrease at all for that. If you want to use vpn for anonymity then there is a speed cost ...still get 30mb when connected to german vpn......so all good for viewing and downloading ect.
Just got two years for £21

Currently on BT Fibre 80 mb... is that the kind of speeds to expect DavidF ???
Using PIA at the moment but they are shit at Proxy services imho.. well Netflix don't work.
Not knocking PIA they are simply a VPN and a very good one.
Just added this open vpn to my xpenology server and getting 40mb downloads from iptorrents.
Worth every penny now my RSS feeds for downloads are working again well happy.
Btw I'm only on 40mb fibre so this has no speed decrease for me.

Should have mentioned yes im on large fibre or whatever its called these days. I think you would find netflix "MAY" work using just the dns server which has zero impact on speed so in theory you would get your usual speed. Only reason i dont know for sure is i dont use netflix any more but it did work that way last year but i know netflix were fighting hard against the easy options.
