We tasted burnt coffee (with boilng water) as well as a coffee made with water not hot enough. Massive difference.

For the sake of a 4 euro peculator (over £20 here UK) and real coffee (not any capsule) ground or whole at £6 per 500grms, one twist open, coffee in, stove top and done. The machines are more expensive and restrict your range, experience. In terms of operation, a nespresso etc are more quicker, same amount of steps I'd say, but its not real coffee. Then, if trying a stove top you are properly into coffee, maybe invest in a more robust and decent machine, but not these capsule gadgets.

Saw a very similar unit today in the range. Explain to me what it does please ? Does it warm and aerate the milk or blow air through it ? I don't quite understand what they do and if I need one. I tend to make an Espresso or Americano mostly at home but if I'm in a coffee house usually a cappuccino.

Kinda, I am very happy with the coffee that my aeropress turns out but quite often in the early morning I simply can't be arsed to take the 5-6 steps required or whatever it is and and end up not bothering and going without as time is tight. I would like something 1 click. I had a dolce gusto machine and was never happy with it but the pod idea sorta fits with when I really don't have the time. It's only a day old and time will tell but I think this pixie is going to be ok.

As for whether it's "real" coffee or not that's a very subjective call. If it smells like coffee, looks like coffee and most importantly tastes like (good) coffee then that will do me fine!

I've read about ones in B&M etc that are supposed to be nice but I would rather try recommendations than blindly buying random pods.
I like the ristretto and indrya blends.. Strong but great first thing in the morning

I've enjoyed the volluto and cosi so far as espressos and the stronger ones as longer drinks. I did find the ristresso a smidge too strong/bitter for my tastes if I'm honest.

Bought a milk frother today, a clone of the nespresso one for £20 from the range. Noticed they had a nespresso compatible machine for £20 !! Anyway, happy with the frother results so far.

Well I bought one so will feed back next week (few days away).

Anyone used the refillable nespresso capsules? There's steel ones that u can use indefinitely.

Saw a comparison video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/FXYw0D3c-ck

Really enjoying the L'Or strength 7 pods and some Asda own brand "extra special" ones rated a 4. Both really nice.

For those using actual ground coffee try Morrisons own top strength one called Magma.

Only ordered the machine last night and it's only gone and turned up at my work already!

Didn't ask for next day delivery but seems I got it anyway.

If I can get it home today I'll might have a play. But will need to get some pods, so will hit Asda and see.

    Cold / Iced Coffee anyone?

I do like a few of these over the summer months and have dabbling, The Mrs has a Ninja, so I can turn ice cubes into snow, or if lazy I just make the shot of coffee, add loads of milk, and a lot of ice.
Anyone else enjoy these and got any tips for me on the best methods for cold or iced .
Just enjoying a nice 2 shot iced pint right now in the home office.

    Cheers.

Having used Nespresso machines for years, I've decided to be a bit more adventurous and go for a bean to cup machine. Since the missus and I both work and mornings are always hectic with the kids, time is of the essence so a machine that does all the legwork is most important.

The only issue I can see is that gargantuan choice of machines, Just De'longhi have something like 70 models with weird combinations of letters and numbers and no clear indication of which is better than which (aside from using price as a guide). I'm looking to spend around £500 and don't care about milk frothing options, just a good espresso or lungo. I've narrowed it down to a Krups EA8150 or DeLonghi ECAM 23.420

A quick word on the milk frother from The Range. It works great and the milk/froth it produces is good BUT if you operate it with the lid on (as per the instructions) most of the time the lid gets fired off as the pressure builds !!

Mine has lost a chunk of it's plastic from hitting the underside of the cabinet above !

I have been using it since without the lid on and it doesn't seem to make a difference other than you don't have to duck the flying disc.

    cheers,
