    Default Treatment for broken thumb?

Fell on my thumb yesterday, have joint movement above the knuckle but nothing below.

Not sure if broken or just badly sprained, if it's broken is there any treatment for it?

Debating going hospital, but thought of bank holiday Monday putting me right off.

Just break the other one then they will match.

    Hi mate

In a week's time when a doctor is amputating your thumb, you're going to feel a bit daft for not going to hospital earlier because of a bank holiday busy period.

    Go to hospital today.

I second that you could end up with something nasty.
Just bite the bullet and visit A&E mate.

I put off going to hospital for a week cos I didn't fancy A&E eventually went as it wasn't getting better but timed it on a weekday early morning. In and out in an hour was quickest visit I ever had.

Had broke a bone in my foot. Had to wear a fuck off moon boot for months.

If you are worried about spending forever, maybe worth going to docs to get an appointment for an x-ray?

I found myself in a similar situation, managed to smash my left index finger in a car door few months ago. Fingernail seems to be eventually sorting itself out but since then I find it painful to bend the fingertip or using it to apply pressure.

Doc said not really much they can do about it, suggested if I came earlier they would have suggested to splint it to the next finger. However when I gently taped it up to stop the fingernail painfully falling apart, the pain from the tape was unbearable so I'm not sure how taping it to the next finger would have helped.

I decided to go, bite the bullet and all that, 4.5 hours! Thankfully not broken, but tear in the carpal ligament. Not a total tear, luckily. Have hand exercises (lol) and should be back to normal within 5-6 weeks!
