Advice Guide prices and source for ...

Missus is convinced there is something wrong with her canon eos 700d camera. (I doubt very much there is)

Despite being far from a pro, and with no post shot skills.

She wants to sell the 700d and get a 6d.

Cheapest I've seen a 6d is £800. So there is clearly a difference financially as the 700d will get about £300 on MPB.com for example.

Yes I know she is deluded. I said to get a mirrorless as they are easy to use, smaller and seem to be taking as good if not better shots than the standard branded dslr cameras.

Firstly the 6d is full frame and a big lump of a camera, and when you add a decent full frame lens it's a hefty load to be carrying around, don't get me wrong it's a nice piece of kit but overkill if you're not shooting weddings etc.

Plus unless you're shooting a lot in low light were the 6d's iso performance is much better, printing A3 prints or pixel peeping i honestly don't think you would tell much difference, don't fall into the trap of thinking spending more on a camera will get you better results, keep what you've got buy a decent lens and improve your technique,.

I've sold nearly all my DSLR kit and moved over to mirrorless, my advice buy a Fuji XT-1 or XT-2 with a decent lens, they are beautiful capable cameras, i hardly use my DSLR anymore and it will all be sold soon.

I second ilscuro post. If your not making a living from photography and don't have a significant investment in lenses then the mirrorless route is becoming highly tempting. Fuji, Sony, Olympus and Panasonic have some stonking mirrorless cameras. Even Canon have started to catch up with their M5 and M6 and allow the use of any EF lenses you may have (with an adaptor ring)

The 6D is still a great camera but has now been superseded by the 6D MkII which is a lot dearer than its predecessor. If full frame is not an issue then I can recommend the 7D MkII but its still a fair chunk of change.

My advise, if mirrorless is a no go, is to get the 700D serviced at a Canon service centre and spend your money on a nice prime lens.

    Thanks to MHP

Does she have much invested in canon lenses? if she does, it wouldn't make much sense to invest in a mirrorless camera regardless.

If she does have a few lenses, are they full frame compatible? cropped sensor lenses would still work, but you wouldn't be using the full area of the sensor.

If shes literally got 1 or 2 lenses for the canon, then take her to a camera shop and direct her to the fuji mirrorless, I'm yet to meet a woman who's panties don't evaporate when they see my leather cased XE-2.

I think you need to really determine if there is something up with the 700D or something up with the user

If the latter, then the "fault" will be transferred to the new camera.

What is it, she actually thinks is wrong with her 700D? (with sample images)

So regardless of me expressing all of your useful advice, yesterday while I was at work she bought a 6D... She got wind of Currys PC World selling them off cheap from her "photo groups" due to them being discontinued. She got it for £675, and to be honest it is like new, no accuations and boxed with unused accessories.

She's in the process of selling the 700D to mpb.com along with another lens. She was offered £390 for the camera, the included 15-55 lens and another 10-15 lens.

    Women...

Great price for a 6D. Was it body only or with a lens?
