    Rant Amazon Fire TV Stick

Is it me or are these actually a pile of shite? Bought one a couple days ago. Installed plex, air mirror and perfect player.

Crashes loads, can stall an be slow, gets stuck in reboot loops seemingly randomly. From googling seems this is common. So what the actual fuck?!

Dunno if it doesn’t like my HDMI switch. Tried direct power, power from server usb.

    Theres no consistency... £40 scammers...

They can be slow but haven't had any other regular problems with sticks. I use the Fire TV box too and it's really good, have retroarch and epsxe which both run well too.

They can be a bit slow, especially when navigating through the menus. I found the Firebox much better.

Yeah notice mine seems to have got a lot slower going through menus with each update that amazon release.

Got one when the they first came out, tried Plex and it was terrible therefore used it with a simple Kodi frontend and it was ok, not used it for a few months now, as above also have a FireTV box which is worth the extra money, still don't use Plex on it though.

Well my intention was to retire my Apple tv2. Frees up some wires and a shit remote. Also no need to run PlexConnect on the server. Didn’t want to pay over the odds for the restricted new Apple TV.

To be fair, plex has been okay. It’s the random reboots and configuring loops that piss me off.

Be tough to narrow that down, I don't get any crashes or reboots, I've got a Gen 1 firestick, only have Kodi & Plex loaded on it though.

    Default Amazon Fire TV Stick

Gen two firestick runs plex good on few peoples that i have setup but got one mate that constantly hanging and locks up but I’ve but that down to line noise issue so far even though he gets half decent speed

Do find they run better in wired conn though than WiFi when zapping and searching etc

Think I’m gonna get the new firetv 4K when comes out on 25th
