Lost admin password

Mate of mine has had a virus on his laptop, he ran a virus checked no idea which in sorry, after a number of reboots the account password has changed.

Any recommendations for recovery of the password or is it just a wipe and reinstall?

I've had a brief scan but there seem to be lots of programs that claim to work but I'm trying to avoid spending hours trying them all!

DVD drive is knackered too just to add to the pain.[emoji2]

I'm not sure if it works for Win 10 but MSDaRT has a Locksmith funtion to unlock passwords. I'm not sure if pogostick works for Windows 10 as that would be the method for most other Windows versions.
