    Default Backing up phone ?

Im upgrading from an S5 to an S7 & could do with a little help.

Is there a way to check using the emei of a Samsung phone the build date/ history ect?
I also need the phone unlocked, is Ebay is the best place for this ?
Also, which app to backup all Contacts, SMS, photo's, apps ect.. for easy install to new phone ?
    Any help would be appreciated.

If it's a new S7 then there should be a little usb adaptor to connect the charging cable between both phones and transfer almost everything from the old phone to the new phone (I did it from S7 to S8 recently and it worked well but you need to resign into all the apps again as it doesn't transfer login details over) - theres a Samsung transfer app that handles it for you.

I don't know a single app that backs everything up but I use SMS Backup & Restore for my calls/contacts/SMS messages and have it set to upload the backup to Dropbox every week. Your contacts may already be backed up to your google account (if not, then it's worth setting it up to sync them to your account, that way whenever you get a new phone as soon as you link it to your account all your contacts will be there. My photo's are set to auto-upload to dropbox too and periodically I just hook my phone to my PC, and dump them all onto my home NAS as well.

Plenty of warranty checking places on Google - here's one http://www.samsungwarrantycheck.com/ I don't know anywhere that will show you build date/repair history though
Plenty of unlocking services/places on Google too - I can't recommend any as I usually only buy sim-free these days -

    2 Thanks given to Northernbloke

Helium will back up all your apps, or just the data - the files get pretty big though, and it takes a while. +1 for SMS backup and restore too.

I just did this for my mum who just got an S7 Edge.

Northernbloke is spot on, the adapter they give in the box is amazing, nearly everything moves over automatically.

    Thanks to Over Carl

I've just used the adaptor to go from a nexus 5x to a pixel 2. It transferred everything apart from the apps even though I asked it to. It then proceeded to download all the apps I told it I wanted to transfer from the play store. Some apps kept their settings and other like radarr, sonarr, philips hue, nest and others had lost their settings and needed logging in again.

All the apps transfered for me even the wallpaper, the only app i had to do was TomTom Go manually... for obvious reasons There was a few issue with the phone i discovered after i bought it, which were all dirt related.
The earpiece was muffled and distorted & the USB plug would fit correctly. After cleaning out all the shit, problem free
