    Default Recommend a VPN

I've never used a VPN before as I didn't think we had a call for one.

Could any of you recommend a VPN service please (and if you have any knowledge of if its a PITA to set up with a Superhub 2)?

    Thanks

Since i started getting warnings from my ISP i signed up to Windscribe VPN, i only use it when i download stuff as my Plex won't share when it's on, but it works fine so far.

Windscribe are in the process of adding port forwarding to it, so i will be able to keep it on all the time, and allow my Plex to work through it.

I got a good 3 year deal with NordVPN

works on the android box and is very user friendly
I use it also on the tablet/PC so its very versatile

Has lots of settings for doing different things like P2P, Anonymous and there is a very large databases of where you can connect to all over the world
I use a server in Manchester and I get no speed loss on the PC, (around 76meg), the Android box gets around 40megs when VPN connected which is ok for all that I stream

I think it works out at about 3 a month if I can remember

As islcuro I use Windscribes free account for downloading.
I use it just to get access to piratebay and get the torrent then I disable it and let my usual ISP download the rest as it is just the sites/torrent download that is blocked.

If you want a full time VPN though windscribe is shit.

Everbody seems to use PIA but I have an issue with where they are based for privacy etc

When I want a full time one I use bolehvpn as based in a non disclosure country. eg they couldnt be forced to reveal your details by a court.

Nord VPN on offer with cashback at the moment, stole the below from HUKD. Guess topcashback and likes will offer similar to quidco

NordVPN's 2 year subscription is 56.48 (or 2.35 a month). Quidco have 40% cashback at the moment, making it 33.90 for 2 years (or 1.42 a month).

I'm assuming thats not VPN at router level??? If so you must have spent about 500 on your router :-)

Ive done a better set of speed results that ones not a fair comparison

Running NordVPN (on a server in London)

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    running without NordVPN

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Ive got 1 android box running
2 PCs upstairs, my daughter watching a movie, my son playing some sort of garys mod game (also using TeamSpeak)
    And of course mine downstairs

all I am doing is running the app on my android box (this auto runs nord) as I only use it to watch stuff
And when I'm doing something else on my pc downstairs.
The Router is a box standard BT Hub6 all cabled up and only the phones using wifi
According to the openreach engineer when he came to fix an issue I had I was getting 82 megs to the cabinet
so I'm loosing quite a bit

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (for some reason it thinks in in York without VPN connected)

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (VPN connected to a Manchester Server)

I'm going to set this NordVPN up shortly.

Are any of you using it via a Superhub?

Registered for the 3 year deal. I am connected with the UK Server (reported as Manchester), I obviously need to do some research to understand this and set it up with my Router as it appears very laggy just now (9 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload - whereas without it the dl is about 200Mbps).

    Thanks for the heads up.

Just in case you are unaware tips with regards VPN and processing power.
e.g. assume you start off with 80/20 fibre...
You setup the VPN on your actual powerful PC and you end up with 76/18 speed as your powerful PC can handle the encryption effortlessly.
You setup the VPN on your router so the whole house benefits however your router is much less powerful and you now have 40/5 speeds for the entire house.

    Pros and cons

Better speed to setup each device but require a VPN which allows x number of accounts/devices
Lower speed via router but job done once.

Obs best solution is a fuck off router that is powerful enough to still give good speeds at router level but I think you are looking at a 300 router for that...
e.g. My Asus AC68U 100 router gives roughly the speeds in my example above.

Itll take time but go into the settings options. there's lots of different types of servers to choose depending on what you want to do

It's all behaving a tad weird (for example just gone to Thanks your post, but the Thanks button has gone - but it is there for Mickeys post above).

My normal DL speed is about 200Mbps.

On a Windows PC mate (it's taken me about 8 attempts and over 5 mins just to allow me to reply to this).
