    Default PLC introductory training courses

Started looking for a job ashore now and a lot of employers are seeking candidates with PLC experience. Looking for a course in introductory PLCs in the South East of England area and struggling to find one that is running. There is one available in lowestoft 30mins from me but they have little interest in it so far so unable to tell me when it will run. Willing to travel as far as London for a course.... Or same distance in any other direction.

Anyone know of anything or have experience in the field?

Systems/process engineering is something I have only had specific awareness of since I started working on some water industry projects a couple of years ago. I know from my clients regions that as oil & gas has reduced there has been a transfer of those people into the water industry. They are good people with a grounding in safety & compliance in everything.

I put some more info down but it was too specific and someone I was on about could be identified from it, so I deleted that. Long story short the systems engineer we use is on a day rate of £550. I think on that basis it's worth finding a course. Sorry I can't recommend one.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

Because all PLCs are different, it will be difficult to find a course that will give you a suitable grounding. Personally I am very familiar with 2 types, and have a passing knowledge on about 5 others. The difficulty is, wherever you look they will be wanting experts, or you will be expected to go in at entry level - which I am sure you wouldn't be keen on.

Unfortunately this is an area where experience counts, which can only be gained on the job - the old catch 22.

Good luck though - PLCs and industrial computers are everywhere - in some surprising places.

Most of the mechanical maintenance engineer jobs I've looked at just say PLC experience required or beneficial. It's not the main part of the job as I'll be more mechanical based. I think they just want a mechanical engineer who has some familiarity with PLCs. Think there might be a 3 day course in Essex I can attend.
