    Default Thermostat failure

    elth thermostat type 279 is open circuit & im unable to find either the same or an equivalent. The part should be under a fiver, but cant order as cant find it
    If anyone could please point me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

    Had a similar situation on a Baxi boiler and I got the closest thing I could find and it worked fine until I got a genuine one. I used it for months it was wrong ohms/amps forget which but was clearly close enough to do the job.

    Its a relatives tumble dryer & even though i can bypass it it easily enough, i would rather replace just in case something happens. Buying the entire element with thermo's semms like a massive watse tbh so woul just like to replave th thermo cut out if possible.
    I assume that i just need to find one with which is 230v, 130c & 10 amps ? Im not sure what the current should be, so im guessing at around 10 amps.

    Yeah bypassing is a bit dodgy but most tumbles have got 2 thermostats ;-)

    try bunging it in the freezer for a day and re try, did this in the wife hotpoint dryer and it worked. or just good luck on my part

    If its an open bi-metal type and it just tripped on over heat use blu tak to pull the disc out this will reset it.
