Default Backend software for a service / maintenance company?

Looking for some help here, one of my clients is a service/maintenance company (with some retail but this is less of a concern) and I am trying to find them a software package which can help improve their productivity as at the moment they rely heavily on paper and it's all a bit of a mess. I use CommitCRM which was recommended to me on here but that is for IT service companies, I am looking for something similar.

I was looking at CRM systems, couldn't seem to find anything "off the shelf" so was considering Zoho and potentially having a third-party company customise it for them but then I found out about CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software) so am now at a loss. I wanted to get a trial of eMaint CMMS and ZoHo CRM so I could see which was better for their purpose but eMaint don't have a freely available trial so am waiting to speak to their sales team.

Does anyone have any ideas? In case it helps:
    - They have multiple regular clients
    - They offer regular maintenance and on-demand repairs
    - Would be handy to have job tickets complete with resolution, track of part/labour charges and to record parts used, warranty, supplier etc.
    - Would be good to sync contacts to an Exchange account/public contacts folder
    - Would be good to connect each engineers Exchange calendar to the software and to dispatch jobs to each engineer as well as a daily overview so office staff can see everything that is booked for a day
    - Would be good for engineers to be able to fill out forms on-site using iPads and to have that sent back to the office (they use Dropbox but I guess it would be emailed or submitted through this new system)
    - They have a shopfront too but this is less important than the maintenance side so although stock control etc. would be handy, it's not crucial

    Any pointers would be awesome!
    Cheers

Again possibly more IT orientated but have you looked at ConnectWise?

    Thanks to hoponbaby

Cheers lads, will take a look. I have been sat with their office manager for the past few hours and trying Zoho and it looks promising as it's so customisable but will look at your suggestions too!

i tried zoho and could get on with it or act, i currently use goldmine in our office bit more expensive but its does hell of a lot so possibly more suitable if it needs scaling up later on

    Thanks to Mobileman

Cheers, will take a look. The issue with that one may be that they have a lot of site engineers who will need very limited access to the system so the costs may build up too high with that great a difference in the per user licence cost. It'd be handy if any offered a 'lite' licence for this sort of use and standard licences for the people in the office who use the whole system.

I might be revisiting Sharepoint soon for another project so will bear that in mind! Tried it out some time ago as a company filesystem and had headache after headache so ended up with Dropbox for Business which is excellent (but very expensive).

I'm working for a property developer and we currently use this software...
    https://www.clixifix.com/
The feedback is generally really good from our customer care team although at some point I may look to move it on to our Asset Management software that has an optional module covering the same features.

    Thanks to tawny

Connectwise is the way to go, you can even use their cloud equivalent but its nowhere near as fast as the on-premises equivalent. Another two you can look at are ZenDesk and Heat

    Thanks to Sanj[UK]
