    Default High Blood Pressure

Any of you orrible lot experienced High Blood Pressure ???

Wound up spending the day in hospital yesterday, getting home 1am after it went through the roof.
I have been expecting it at some point as it runs in the family but happened sooner than expected. Scans & tests show it must have been high for a while and has caused enlarged capillaries in my heart ffs

Anyhoo on meds already, got a follow up appt on Wed morning and will be on pills for the rest of my life.

Just wondered if anyone in a similar boat can recommend any special diet or even just foods that are good for reducing it.
I have googled but I find experience is better than what google says.

It is currently hovering around 230 over 130 ish.... 140 was the highest.

Gonna be a big change for me. Need to lose some timber for sure and eat better but they feel the biggest issue is hereditary.

So far munching on unsalted (of course) pistachios, got some raw beetroot in, licorice root for tea.
Got an allotment recently so gonna research what to grow that will benefit me and cost sweet fa.

    Cheers for any advice

    Edit:

So far on atenolol and ramipril. Low dose to start as they are concerned on lowering it too quickly, but plan to up it on Wednesday and maybe add another med too.
Atenolol is a funny one, vivid dreams and very cold hands and feet. Already had a vivid dream about one of the nurses :-)

Eat healthier, no beer, no smoking and no sex mate.

Seriously, my mum was on Ramipril for years, it worked fine for her, good luck.

Not much of a beer drinker, more of a wino but that will be cut right back :-)
Never smoked a day in my life and as for sex from what I read about Atenolol its main side effect is floppy cock syndrome so that is already taken care of lol (feel like shit anyway so cant confirm that one yet)
Eating needs to be sorted, never really been an unhealthy eater but could improve and could eat less :-)
I think my main issue is eating times. I eat nothing in the morning, maybe a little in afternoon but I am an evening eater. Often eat fuck all till 5pm on wards which is stupid.

    Thanks for your comment.

Watermelon and pomegranate seeds good for this.

    Tastes good too.

Also makes morning wood a bit more woody.

Had high blood pressure for years, 2 Years a go diagnosed with heart dicease and ended up with a stent fitted, been on Losartan for about 7 Years and it sure does affect your Knob ! anyways went for routine blood pressure check 4 weeks a go and was not as high as yours but considering I am taking meds 198/110 they have been trying to get it down ever sinse, the best advise I can give you is lose weight if your a big boy, stay well away from salt and plenty of exercise ! Get yourself a decent Blood Pressure Tester and self check yourself once a week ! High blood pressure is a silent killer and you don't know that you've got it until tested. you will most likely be on meds now for the rest of your life.

Heard about this the other week and was sceptical but apparently it is backed up by medical research.

You can help lower blood pressure with lifestyle changes but a lot of it is hereditary, runs right through my family and I have been on tablets for about 12 years changing a few times until finally stabilising on amlodipine for about the last 8 years, the biggest issue I have always had is you feel far more lethargic than before you took them but it's a bit like running a car at 100mph then slowing down to 60mph always going to feel slower but the motor will last longer.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

@BaldBouncer yeah I am feeling really dumbed down already. ATM I can't even work as after 15mins I am fucked/spinning out and cant concentrate at all, but I was told this will calm down a lot I just need to give things a couple of weeks then I should have adjusted.

Oh well, not gonna let myself get all doom and gloom. At least I caught it before it was too late.

    Much appreciate all comments.

My mate is recovering in hospital now following a quadruple heart bypass. It's hereditary. He had a stent about three years ago then went in recently feeling rough and they kept him in because the heat disease had spread. He was trying to keep fit through jogging and swimming but after going on some tablets he felt lethargic and his short term memory became patchy. He's undergone this quadruple bypass and I can't go and see him as I've come back from holiday with a cough. He's forty one, married with two lads / young blokes.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

Had to come off the Ramapril, fuck me a week of through the eye of a needle. Not just talking diarrhea but literally felt like battery acid pouring through my ring piece.
    Now given amplodapine .

Blood pressure has come down a lot so stopped shitting ,myself as much. Blood works being done in the morning to make sure my kidney isn't fucked.
    Thing looking positive so far.
A few days back it was bursting blood vessels left and right. Burst piles in my arse so shite was pissing blood everywhere. Spunk full of blood ffs. Thought it was game over at one point.

One funny thing was I phoned doctor after shitting the toilet full of blood. He said don't panic.. most likely burst piles, so long as it is fresh red blood then chill, if it is BLACK/DARK then it is serious. Next crap was black/dark, thought oh fuck, mrs wanted me to go A&E etc, I said I wanna lie down and think for a bit.
Shouted the wife to come upstairs after something dawned on me.

Said "What was in that smoothie/juice you made me ???
She replied, apple, pineapple and 4 beetroot...
Fucks sake, Dark Purple Shite pmsl lasted for hours.

    3 Thanks given to piggzy

You certainly have gone through it ! It's funny how different medicines affect us, I was on Amplodapine but had to come off it because it used to give me a banging headache. Also had the blood spunk, never told anyone, was straight on the internet to self diagnose like you do! and found that it's quite a common thing, well I masturbated furiously 2, 3 times a Day to clear the pipes and it did eventially go away.

    Thanks to Lestronics

Yup, cut out salt already. Although not completely as studies show if you cut it out altogether it takes longer for BP to drop.
    Never did sugar.
Stress. Yeah right. I got kids. lol

Do you eat much bread and/or cereal mate?

I'm trying to lower the blood pressure and lose some weight - and when looking at the carbs, fibre and protein content of all the bread and cereal in the supermarket, I was amazed just how shite 90% of it is.

Brown seedy bread usually quite good. Forget white bread.
    Shreddies pretty good for cereal.

Luckily for me I NEVER touch cereal and don't actually like bread. I do eat bread out of necessity but it was easy to drastically reduce. Maybe average 1 slice a day now. Also like you said have switched from white. Cheers

To add. My research has shown one of the biggest culprits is condiments.
Ketchup being by far the worst. Fortunately I think the stuff is vile but I have cut back on brown sauce and mayo not that I use them a lot anyway.
BBQ is bad too. Luckily my preferred mustard is low :-)

I think the maximum for amlodipine is 10mg so if it isn't down they have to look at something else or a combination
