Help Ford Focus Titanium X 2012

I've just purchased this car and I'm having trouble trying to play mp3's via the USB ! keeps coming up with "Invalid file format" on various tracks, I've tried everything I possibly can, googled here there and everywhere, followed all the requirements, fat 32, formatted with various file allocations from 16 and upto 4096, folders with mp3's in, Mp3's just in the root directory etc .... The one thing I did find was some guy saying it'll only work if the mp3 is mpeg-1 Layer-3, I've tried to find software to view the file format and a suitable audio converter that will convert to this format, but none found. There are plenty of converters but only from one format to another like wav to mp3 as an example and changing the bitrate.

Does anything exist and anyone with same problem that has managed to find a sollution?

    Regards

Are your mp3’s VBR or constant?

I don't do much tweaking of sound files but any time I want to trim a sound file or change formats, Goldwave + LAME does the job nice for me.

Currently CBR but I've tried VBR, I tried lowering the bitrates during converting Mp3 to Mp3 thinking it might not like the higher rates, I know some players are not able to play higher than 128k !

Good point, try different sticks and different size sticks as well.

Good advise and that was the first thing that come to mind because the usb 16gb I was using was a USB 3.0 and although meant to be backward compatible (it states USB 2.0 in the ford manual) I thought this might be the problem and so ordered USB 2.0 stick and still the same. Tried other sticks and sizes all give the same error

    Sorted !!

I found some free software called Switch by NCH Software, run 500 mp3 files through it, converting from my Mp3 to there Mp3, selected CBR 192 bitrate and crc error check box ticked and they all appear to work !!! Fook knows how and why because I tried umteen converters doing exactly the same ....... anyway a happy ending, Thanks all for the advise/support

    Regards
    Les

    Thanks to Lestronics
