Great result to be celebrated considering the last 10 years

If England can improve getting goals from free play as well as from set pieces - force to be reckoned with in the next two internationals

Kane was shit, England never beat anybody in the tournament ranked in the top 20 by FIFA.

Walker was played out of position, he is a right-back for ffs.

As for winning the world cup next time forget it.

I don't think anyone was delusional. No one expected this team to get to the semi-finals. I'll admit that we didn't create a great deal from open play but Southgate has done the best with what he's got available. I'm not sure what your argument is with Walker either. We didn't play with right backs and Trippier has been or best player in most games. England's biggest problem is that we don't have a genuine world class play maker and haven't had one since Gascoigne.

Well, if I ever saw a game of two halves, this was it.

First half we looked good, back 4 were immense, Maguire, Trippier and Walker were everywhere, on every ball, sniffed out every chance. Every change we had we'd play the forward ball, Sterling was much better, making good runs, getting behind the men more frequently that he has, but again,. his final balls were shocking, his first touch a couple of times i the FH were nothing short of criminal, saying that, at that particular section of the match, I'm not sure anyone could do any better.

I thought Kane, Alli, Jesse all had poor games, Rashford was completely inneffective on the left wing, and then moved to the right where he was even worse.

I think the lads suffered a massive adrenaline dump in the SH. Allowed Croatia more time on the ball in the middle, and they began running that right channel and Youngs legs were gone at this stage. We didn't have enough cover to help him.

We did a great job of keeping Modric and Manzukic quiet in the first half, but as soon as they got more space, they opened our tired, lethargic bodies up.

I expected them to press hard in ET to stop pens, and it didn't take much, they were pressing the whole SH and ET, Pickford kept us in it many a time, and we had a few scares.

No complaints from me, the better team on the night went through.

Big learning curve for the young lads, and shows how we need a creative midfielder to influence play when it's needed, we're lacking that ATM.

It's a right youthful team and really interest to see how they all progress in the next two years for the Euro's, but they certainly need more creativiity, more attacking prowess, and the ability to convert chances from open play, which we struggled with all competition.

Well done to the lads, exceeded all our expecations, but highly fustrating that it's unlikely we'll ever get such an "easy" route to the finalin our lifetimes.

    Thanks to BigBrand

Croatia wanted it more than England did, they were supposed to be tired and yet England were the ones who looked tired.

We avoided big teams on the way through this tournament and yet we got beat by a team we have beaten 5-1 and 4-1 in previous world Cup matches so how on earth are people praising this squad of players?

The stand out players for me in the England team were Pickford, Maguire and Tripper.

It's coming home was supposed to be a joke at the start but became an expectation that gave ammunition to other teams in motivation for trying to beat us, we are our worst own enemy at times.

Roll on the start of the new Premier league season.

    Thanks to Rhinoz

England had more hairdressers at the world cup than shots on goals.

7 hairdressers ( dele had 2 , one colourist and one barber)
6 shots on goal ( this includes the deflection by Kane)

These facts are before the 3rd place play off.

Did anyone else notice the lack of female spectator shots in the coverage this World Cup?
    Was a FIFA directive apparently
Someone should mansplain to them why that's wrong
I mean do they not know how Pamela Anderson was discovered?
Ok not the greatest example but what's wrong with showing people who've dressed up for the occasion?

    Thanks to Hippie on hill
