    Default Magnet fishing....

Bought a kayak and want to do a bit of magnet fishing from it. There are some old bridges around here which I think would be gold for ww2 stuff disposed of.... A couple of abandoned bridges only accessible by kayak now too....

Do any of you lot magnet fish and if so do you have any tips or advice on which magnet to buy? Maybe a few stories on what you have found....

I've recently found myself addicted to watching magnet fishing videos on YouTube.... Some of the stuff the yanks pull up is really interesting...

I have been fishing a few times when younger with mates but never magnet fishing.
If you find anything decent let us know and I may buy one myself.

Been interested in this myself, recent cases near me pulled grenades and WW2 bomb out etc.

I've read that the largest one on Amazon will suffice reading the reviews. £40 or so.

Believe it or not ive also been looking into this, because my health is not too good lately I wanted to find something me and my son could do without being too much and I found some videos on YouTube the other day about a man and his lad magnet fishing which has now started me off. They currently sell a DOUBLE sided magnet which comes with a metal snap connector and what looks to be mountain climbing rope which should be ideal. Here is the listing url:
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-sides...4AAOSwVohZ3nKy
I have ordered 2 of these which come to nearly £40 for 2 but being double sided and with the rope etc make it a better value than the one at Amazon.

Am I the only one totally missing the point of this, anything you find of any age would be rusted to fuck and worthless even if you can make out what it is, I can see the point of a metal detector but isn't this just fishing for people who are really shit at fishing

Yes, you've totally missed the point.

It's not about finding any real valuables, and anything you can sell for big bucks, although that has happened. It's more about the thrill of finding something, that could be decades old, or lost etc.

People have found, guns, bullets, all sorts of ammunition, jewelery, it's done for the thrill and not as a career.

And no, this isn't fishing for people who are shit at fishing, as unless you're getting a pike weighed down with steel, you're not going to catch fish with a magnet

It's one of those hobbies, where, you get it or you don't, and that's fine.

So it has happened what has been found worth big bucks please?

I have read through the thread since it started and guns, bullets rusted to fuck again I really am honestly missing the point, why not get a metal detector and try and find something really of interest that's not a shopping trolley or rusted to fuck

Yes, on one channel, a lad in America found a really old knife, once cleaned up it was sold for over $3000. I've read an article in the past of someing finding dry, sealed cash in a metal box, IIRC the value was over £1000.

Wouldn't be as fun throwing a metal detecter on a string into a canal I don't think...?

So nothing worth mega bucks then, I didn't post in this thread to either bait or mock I genuinely don't get it, I understand the wanting to find something treasure hunting etc but what I really don't understand is why throw magnets in canals and rivers limiting yourself to finding something rusted to fuck when you could get a metal detector expanding what you could find and increasing the chances of it not being totally degraded.

    It's called the thrill, BB.

Plenty of WW2 bombs and guns etc have been found, that for msot is classed as a great find, an exhilirating experience.

My idea of walking up and down a sandy beach 30 miles away at 10pm with a metal detecter and a pair of headphones, bucket and spade, is not something I get?
