    Default Day trips ABROAD

Has anyone done a day trip abroad to anywhere ?

I saw a post recently where someone took a return day flight (2.5hrs) to the Colosseum Rome for under £50.
This imo, beats going to the local fkin carboot sale.
Sure i could find one for the usual rip of prices, but part of the fun is doing it cheaper than a takeaway from your local Chinese.

You can get flights for fuck all if you look hard enough.
my folks live in Portugal and they only pay around £25 for their flights as they come and go when it’s cheapest.

We found flights to Lisbon and back to Bristol airport for £40 but that was over two days

I've heard of people doing a day return to Rome and Venice, I guess how far the airport is from the interesting areas is part of it. Not tried myself but do fancy the idea of it, I'm about 45-60 mins from the airport but the cost of parking can be outrageous.

Not a flight but if you are close to the Eurostar then Bruges is good, we did a one night stay a couple of years ago. Took about 3 hours door to door driving inc Eurostar, cheap parking there a short walk from the centre but you'd be insane to drive it on a day trip as you'll be over the limit within a drink

For me Birmingham would probably be the easiest. London is only a cheap coach trip away, but working out the combining coach/plane times would be a headache.
My son just about to hit 16 in a couple of weeks, & thought about taking him somewhere for the day as a surprise. Basically tell him we going shopping at the bullring, then end up at the airport!
What i found was one way tickets are dirt cheap, but they catch u on the return price.

You can sign up for the free mailing list at www.jacksflightclub.com and they will email you occasional deals. I think approx once a month he sends out cheap Europe getaways, usually for a weekend but might help find flights. The budget airlines tend to price their AM flights higher when leaving the UK but on the return the PM flights tend to cost more.

Also go to momondo.co.uk and set your departure airport and put "Anywhere" as the destination, the dates you want to travel, then add the duration filter so you filter out all long haul and then use the budget filter. Might help you find a good value deal.

    Thanks to evilsatan
