    Advice CCTV options?

Looking to buy one or two outdoor cameras as there's been break-ins locally.

I don't want to pay a monthly subscription and don't have a pc switched on 24/7. Does that leave me with any options?

We have virgin cable it could connect to and I'd be okay hardwiring to mains power.

You could get one that records to a memory card but if someone damages/steals the camera then your recordings will go with it. Personally, I have Google Nest outdoor cam and video doorbell, they are ok but not particularly cheap and my sub just renewed at £100/year for 30 day recordings in the cloud. There will be much cheaper alternatives available or you could look for a cheap/used kit with a DVR box so it records on a box you can store securely in your house.

We have a ring doorbell and 2 neos cameras in external casings for outside.
both have a sub but not £100 I think ring was £26 and neos was £25 for a year.

Plus side is neos cameras are cheap as chips £20+

I have a couple of SRIcams that where about £25 on ebay, they record to a SD card which is viewable on my phone along with the live feed.
Theyve been running for years without a prob, although I do wonder if the chinese are using them to spy on me lol.

    Hah! Quite!

If I got one that did sd card recording but was accessible via my phone, could I not set my (android) phone up to start recording when it detects movement?

You can set them to text you when they detect movment but I dont use this feature.
You could do a screen record on your phone if you want a copy on your phone, you can also view the contents of the SD card on your phone and I think a PC so you could record segments if you want them.

    Thanks to RaMx

You could try Blink? These can record to a USB on the sync module that you can access remotely via phone with no subs - with motion detection etc.
Look out for Amazon for occasional discounts ;-)

I have 8 cameras up running a recordable drive system which is acceptable via net.

Also I have two blinks as well now they are simple and hideable as well.

Just buy a cheap recordable system on bay and job done.
I’m alive and kicking yeh baby.

i used to use a tapo camera, it records onto memory card too but for cloud storage and motion alarms i think it was about £3 a month.

I bought this for £30. Great picture, good software, sends a notification when a human enters the selected area of the screen. Only downside was having to get a usb cable indoors.
