It looks pretty good tbh. Wonder if you can add roms, and other customs etc.

Be good to see the insides

Had a quick look into these and im tempted to get one!

They have good reviews in most places.

Theres a newer version, a 3D one with 2000 odd games and it will let you add PSP, ps1, n64 and depending on who’s descriptions you read on eBay arcade roms as well.

Also saw one in two halves so you can separate player 1 and 2 by a cable.

Check eBay for Pandora’s Box 3D treasure.

So I've come to the conclusion that the ones with names like Pandora treasure, and Pandora 3D or 5S, 6S and the like are clones that have been hacked to have more roms installed, with a few other tweaks.

The 3D games are not the origianl arcade versions, instead just PS1 versions.

The standard Pandora Box 6 will allow you to add more Mame roms, via a third USB port and also PS1 roms. Anything that plays other console roms, I think is either a RPi setup in the same style controller consoles or used the PS1 emulators for SNES, Sega.

I really like the split console one, with a connecting cable. But I've not seen a genuine 3A Pandora Box 6 in that style.

I might just punt and buy the 6 (1300 in 1) from the 3A store on AliExpress. At least will be genuine. Maybe Doris can get it for me for Christmas! lol

LOL plant the seed then watch it grow

I did look into these Pandora boxes last year but decided a Pi with a built cab would suit me better, got the Pi then installed an image with roms and emu's included then realised the cab, monitor, buttons and decals was going to cost quite a bit just to play a few old games on, now it's sitting hidden under my TV waiting to be played.

For me the Pi was really for having more control over the Hi scores and being able to add games over the network and not be limited to certain games/consoles, I use a bluetooth joypad atm which defeats the whole point of wanting to use an arcade joystick, playing Track & Field on tiny joypad buttons whilst it moves sort of loses it's appeal after a game or two.

The Pandora is interesting but just wondering if I would play for 10 mins then put it in a cupboard.

So as planned, seed was planted and Doris got me one for Christmas. It arrived last week. Got it from the 3A Game Store on Ali Express, and after a few promo codes it came to 143 including postage. I did get hit with an extra 27 import charges though so bear that in mind if you order from abroad.

They don't come with roms on them anymore, but instead you email them and they send you a link to a google drive account where you can download the rompack from.

Unboxing I found that one corner had a dint in it from travelling Next to FA I can do about that really. It came pretty well packed apart from that! In the box was the console, two spare buttons, PSU, long USB, long HDMI and long VGA lead. Main box already had a low profile 16gb Sandisk USB memory stick for putting roms on.

I tested the box with the one mame rom i actually had on my laptop, wardner.zip and it booted straight to it rather than the menu screen, Probably becaose only one ROM on it. Played perfect and looked and sounded just fine. Rebooting without the USB in took to the menu screen, but no listings obviously.

Didn't really get to test much else, but the unit feels sturdy and strong. I don't think the buttons or stick are high end parts, but they are plenty good enough.

It will play PS1 roms and mame, fba roms. Theres a menu limit of 2500 entries, so a full rom set won't list everything, but from my experience of full sets, at least half are shite. Theres no way to save state, or save games with the mame side, probably the same for PS1 games as well. They can be paused though...

I'll update more when I've played some more roms etc.

For some they may think 170 is a bit much considering you can get an RPi and all the bits for less. But I think its gonna be played a lot more than an RPi would be. Def over Christmas!

well i bit the bullet, ordered a 5s with 999 games on Monday, bargain 64 quid delivered, came today and very impressed with it & they sent me a 6s with 1388 games, very well built and works a charm on a spare 32 inch Toshiba tv i had laying around, only running at 720p but makes no difference as all low-end pixel graphics lol

    Yeah, been abusing mine loads.

Some hyper fighting SF2 will warm you up! Fkin even playing bubble bobble had me twitching! No wonder we had such good reflexes when we were kids.

    New games are so wank.
