    Hello all,

    shameless post for some help.

Someone has stolen my identity. Not sure why, I am hardly a super hero..
However they have opened many mobile phone contracts and I keep getting reminder letters for payments for other credit.

Now, I know the email address they are using and it is a yahoo account. I have done some googling and it looked like you could used to hack the accounts fairly easily in the past.

Does anyone have any tools to crack Yahoo accounts? I just want to see which other companies they have opened credit in my name with.

I have registered with CIFAS now to hopefully prevent this.

Bollocks! I didn't realise anyone could post here and not just VIP!

Delete the thread.. I have clearly broken the rules. Apologies!

The quickest way to hack Yahoo \ hotmail etc accounts was always by guessing the secret question to change a password, no idea about it now though. Undertaker did a few requests YEARS ago

Put the address into haveibeenpwned.com, if it's flagged up then maybe you can get the password dump and try that?

I doubt it. They have used my name and postcode and this all happened in December.

It is asking me to complete a phone number for it to text a verification code.
previously you could override the number but I think that has been fixed.

Probably long time fixed but there were tools to brute force yahoo, hotmail etc via telnet back in the day so you avoided verification and captcha etc and could brute force 1k's attempt per second...

    Tools were on Tor etc

I do know someone who works for cyber crime in the old bill. Asking him for advice as well as the information security team in the office.
I might be able to social engineer the password from them.. or I just spam the shit out of the email.

Ideally however I can get into the account to find out who else I apparently owe money to...
