I do web dev and would agree with TJ for woocommerce for a site you want to look after yourself.
I hate Wordpress but have to admit when it comes to a shop woocommerce just works.

Have setup a good few shops using it over the years. If you need a hand getting started let me know. Always happy to help a fellow DF'er.

If you don't like Woocommerce you could also look at nopCommerce although this requires windows hasting as it is uses the .net framework although they are releasing anytime now a new version which will run on .net core so then you could use either Windows or Linux hosts etc

I have used allsorts over the years there’s so many available like shopify, prestashop and opencart but for me woocommerce is a piece of piss.
I don’t use the standard setup I have individual pages setup so I can display individual categories on each page.

Don’t fall for paying for plugins it’s all available free if you search

What he said also DO NOT use one of these online companies where you use their webshop for 1 a month or something ridiculuos.
The webshop/store/site is unique to them and they are always restrictive. When you decide you want to leave you cant take your website/shop with you as it is their own software and cannot run on others servers etc.

All these 1 a month or 20 a year bollox are utter shite. Slow, look like shit, when one day (as many who I have warned) they realise they want to move it is starting all over again from scratch.
