    Question Ring Doorbell Woes...

Has anyone encountered intermittent ring doorbell video capturing issues..

Sometimes works on motion, sometimes works on Doorbell Press, Never on Live Capture..

Router is 2 Meters away from Doorbell, also with a additional Chime Pro Extender..

Router is a Asus DSL AC68U

    Found this online mate.

    1. Live view was not working. Live View is a feature which allows you to view who is at the door with the Ring Doorbell Camera. I had to open up some additional ports to get Live View working. I spoke to Level 2 support and they recommended opening up inbound ports as well, but I was able to get it working by only allowing outbound ports. After these ports were opened I was able to access Live View from a Cellular signal, but not from a device that was connected to the same Wireless Access Point (WAP) as the Ring Doorbell. Here's a summary of the ports I opened from the Ring Doorbell Outbound to the Internet:
      1. TCP Port 80
      2. TCP Port 443
      3. TCP 15063-15064
      4. TCP 7078
      5. TCP 9078
      6. TCP 9998-9999
      7. UDP 15063-15064
      8. UDP 15600-65535
      9. UDP 5001

I have the original one and it was pretty crap on batteries. Live view won't work on batteries so grab a 18v AC power supply off ebay and run the wires to the back of the faceplate.

If it's already plugged in there is a setting in the app for the frequency of the motion alerts.

Put the ring on DMZ zone - that did it for me - check in your router settings.

Sorry to jump on this one late guys, but is Ring still the best camera doorbell out there?

There seems to be a fair few at silly prices, but are you paying for what you get, or is it all in the brand.
Looking to get one soon, but no experience, hoping for some tips off the guys that have one.
    TIA

Not got a Ring I have a cheap arse one which works great for my needs but I think the answer is yes the Ring is still the best mainly through app and software support but is it the additional price difference better that's for you to decide but for me absolutely not.

I've got nest as the reviews I read suggested the camera was better, tbh it works pretty well & the person recognition is good. I haven't found a way to make it to get the google mini to just announce there is a person in view yet (without a button press) but that's probably my lack of searching!

I have the Nest Hello too as I already had the thermostats and got the Outdoor IQ for the garden. I just switched from Alexa to Google Home (preferred Alexa) byt mine announces who is at the door and I can't remember setting this up so it should be an easy toggle option somewhere.

I installed a Ring for my nan, I prefer the Nest as it is better quality and the doorbell doesn't look as chunky and ugly as the Ring but the Ring is much better value and far easier to install. I wanted a wired model so it was set up and leave rather than change batteries, my door alreay had a wired bell so made it easier but a bitch that you need transformers etc. to get a chime to work!

I don't mean the announce on press - that works, I'd like it to announce when it sees a person regardless of whether they press or not. Although you get the notifications come through the app, in the middle of the night you pay no attention to them whereas google announcing that there's a person on the drive at 2am would be a nice security measure.
