    Default Maths Help

I bought some trainers tonight, x2 pairs for me and x2 pairs for my mate.

Original price, mine totalled 92. My friends two pairs totalled: 120.

The total order was therefore 212.

I got 44% discount applied to that 212, which means the order was 160 inc VAT.

I'm having a brain fart and can't work out how much my mate owes me.

Is it just 66% of his order, 120? (79?)
Because 66% of my order of 92 is 60 and pennies.
But added together (139) doesn't meet the 160 I was charged.

    Can anyone save me?

Looks like your discount didn't work properly mate.

44% off of 212 is not 160. Should be less than that.

Ok, The receipt is bollocks by the way it's not 44% more like 25% but even then I don't know where they have got their numbers from however if we assume the prices are correct I.e 91.92 and 120.42 that's a ratio or around 1:1.31 the total 160.46 split in the same ratio is 69.50 and 91.05 as I said give or take a few pence if I were you or if you can be arsed I would email them asking how that is 44% it makes no sense however if you are not arsed those are the numbers

mate sent me that, seems the Adidas Algorithms have fucked this up.

    This doesn't make sense.
The discount applied is what is needed.

    Your trainers were 46 each.
    Your mates are 60 each.

    46 (x2) + 60 (x2) = 212.

The way to work it out is backwards.

160 paid, so work out the percentage.
It works out just shy of 25% across the board... So...

    60 (x2) 100 (x75) = 90 (Your mates trainers)
    46 (x2) 100 (x75) = 69 (Your Trainers).

Argue about the quid between yourselves.

    Now...
If it were supposed to be 44% your mate would owe you 67.20

And your trainers would have been 51.52.
    Total spend of 118.72.

90.57 is what your mate owes you. Sorry I can't see the original post in Tapatalk but take the total actual reduced price, divide it by the combined total original price, then multiply it by the original price for your mates part of the order. You're multiplying the reduced total price by the proportion of the order your mate made.

Hope that makes sense. I've had half a dozen pints so will review in the morning.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

Does your mate know about the discount as if not then get him to pay the 120 and that would give you a 58% discount ;-)

    Thanks to akimba
