    Default Android Unwanted Notifications

I've been receiving unwanted notifications every couple of weeks for about eight weeks. I don't know which app has brought this in even though I've checked through the notification center and have tried to figure out which app it is.

Does anyone know of a straightforward way for me to identify the guilty app?

Just go thru all your apps and turn notifications off in the apps settings for that program
its a pain but I do it a few times every couple of weeks, just so I don't get woken up as if
you haven't set out of hours you will get the notifications

set your out of hours on so that you also don't get them during your sleep time also

Cheers I did start doing that but the notifications are a bit too seldom for me to tell what's causing them unless I do a trial and error over a potentially long period. I'll try to find an installation history and see which app it could be. Bound to be something low grade to allow this sort of thing to happen. Down with this sort of thing.

When you get the notification, press and hold on it. The app that is responsible for it then appears with an 'i' for info on it. Press the info and you have the option to block it from giving you any further notifications.

A good app I use for Internet usage is 'Glasswire' as it shows apps accessing the net when your not even using it or have it open, you might catch it that way as it could be getting fresh adverts downloaded when your phone is idle.

Useful on the pc as well.

Check chrome > Settings > Notifications as some website can use chrome to spam you with adds also.

Other browsers will probably be the same.
