Default Some bellend wants to try and extort me!

So it seems that my NAS (Thanks Fear345) has some fucking exploit that was only patched a few months ago. Unbeknowing to me of course.

NAS only purpose is just for backups of my Microserver, a few key files, music and photos that I backup in 100 places because Im a para twat. Looking at the two drives in the NAS they all had little ransomware messages sitting in each folder. Any larger files were skipped, but most were encrypted.

Needless to say, I don't give a flying fuck but did my usual shit of baiting the fuckpipe and threatening to track him down and go all Rambo stylee.

In reality I've now wiped the drives, pulled the plug on the online connection to the NAS so its only local and re-ran backups last night. So, back to where it was before.

Just a load of ball ache for no reason TBH. So in short, make sure you are on top of your NAS updates, and stay the fuck away from DLink 320's...

Surprised it looks like it only affects that model, I thought it may have been one of the SMB flaws! I mainly use Synology devices as they are supported for so long but am increasingly skipping NAS altogether now and putting files in Sharepoint instead. I need to find the best backup solution for these files though as don’t want to rely on versioning and archiving.

Did you try and decrypt the files using any of the ransomware recovery sites of as they were just backups did you not bother? Any replies from your messages?

I didn’t put any effort into trying to decrypt anything. Easy for me to wipe the drives and block the hole.

On some random chat platform the muppet does communicate but I can only be bothered so much!

Might still have the links in my history if u really want.
