    Advice UPGRADE Time!

My current pc is over due an update, 2500k,16gb ddr3, 2 x 250gb ssd.
Not a PC gamer these days (xbox does the job) so a much smaller system is the next step so choices, choices....
    Build a Mini ITX setup
    Buy a NUC style box
    Buy a Laptop.

Good people of DF help me decide!

Well myself I have a full gaming pc which I now don’t use, sat their catching dust.
    Laptop same as the above.

Other than my Ipads these days I find PCs and laptops Have had their days unless you have a specific use and if I had I would go for a laptop, small, portable and convenient.

    Regards.

Its all about what your uses are going to be ......
For me, I'm not gamer and for me something reasonably powerful but small is my choice. I have a NUC I5 - 4Gb Ram - 64bit Op - 128Gb SSD and Win 10, it sits nicely under the TV where it's conveniently connected via HDMI, thus I can browse the net, also connected to Lan network with access to other PC's and a vast array of storage, mainly stored movies and software.
Works for me but as I say it's really all about what your uses and taste are .....

    Regards

    Thanks to Lestronics

Personally I can’t stand using laptops so pc and keyboard all the way.
Grab an iPad for general browsing and games and a pc for more serious work.

most pcs on the market are pretty good at most things now for under £500.
I got myself an acer pc with win 10 monitor and keyboard etc for £450 which I thought was not bad for 8gb or 16gb ram (I can’t remember which) and 1tb storage.

Upgraded to a wd blue 512gb ssd which made a BIG difference (thanks to all here who helped with that)
now I have a pc for work which is more than capable of gaming too.

Really depends what you want to use it for, if you want portability etc.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T480s 14'' laptop and a docking station with a full sized keyboard, mouse and widescreen monitor. This way I have a thin/light/powerful laptop that I can take away with me but when docked I have the efficiency of full sized keyboard/screen at home/office. The T480 has changed its dock port so the dock is quite expensive, you could get a T470/T460 refurb for cheaper on eBay etc and the ultra docks that work with those are around £20 refurb!

    Thanks to evilsatan
