Help BBC iPlayer thinks I'm abroad, help please!

I have used a VPN (Freedome) for a while and often jump out of the UK. During those "overseas" trips BBC iPlayer identifies that I am "abroad" and when attempting automatic downloads it returns the message: It looks like you are out of the country, please come back to the UK to try again.

This has always resolved itself when I have again connected by a UK server, until now ...

For the past few days, iPlayer still thinks that I am abroad and will neither resume downloading the missing episodes nor let me click on the greyed-out download links on the website.

I have tried disabling the VPN, I have gone abroad and back again and I have rebooted my iMac. I have deleted all episodes in the series and tried to start over again.

It still tells me that I am abroad!

Can anyone suggest what is happening and how I can get round this?

iMac running under macOS Catalina v10.15.4 (19E287)

    Thanks in advance.

I should have added that I have tried all the resolution suggestions on their website but to no avail.

I use Nord VPN whilst on my Jollies and I can set it from so it thinks I am in the UK.
cant think off hand what its called ill check back once ive ran it

I watch BBC thru iplayer a lot of the time in Spain/Portugal without issues

    I would try
long click on the BBC iplayer icon / APP info/storage and try clearing cache then retry it
if this don't work clear cache and data and try again

    EDIT:
Obfuscated servers - servers that can bypass internet restrictions such as network firewalls. They are recommended for countries with restricted access. You can watch this video for a detailed explanation on how it works.
