Default WD My Cloud EX2-Using as a regular drive

I have the above NAS. I haven't linked it back up to my network since I decorated last year. I've read you can use these as a regular back up drive connected by USB to your PC but mine isn't picking it up. What am I doing wrong?

I don't think this is possible being a NAS.

The card inside will be translating data and transfering data only through the LAN port, which will have a faster transfer rate.

The USB 3's on the back will only act as an input for extra storage (USB Pen drive or another External device).

The only way to access the internal drives, due to being hooked to the internal LAN Card would mean the only Transfer port would be the LAN port.

Thanks mate. I searched on the internet for an answer and couldn't find one. I emailed WD twice but didn't receive an answer.

I did read you can use a NAS as a hard drive but maybe it's only certain ones.

    Thanks for your help.

If connected to your network you could map the network drive to your pc and it will show up as a regular drive in windows explorer.
