    Couldn't agree more.

I think Hard Boiled ranks up as one of my favorite non-english films. Running Out of Time was also excellent.

Default Re: The best non-english movie you have seen?

I was a bit sceptical about it: "do they make movies in spain?", I wondered. The answer is yes, and fucking good ones too!

Holy shit! you should organize some movie party at your home and start watching:

Bienvenido Mister Marshall (classical movie from 1953)
    http://us.imdb.com/Title?0045554

    Continue watching:

El Día de la Bestia (1997)
    http://us.imdb.com/Title?0112922 (gore movie)

    And then:

    Abre los ojos (1997)
    http://us.imdb.com/Title?0125659
(Vanilla Sky is a remake from this movie)

And maybe end watching some wet dream from Julio Medem together with your girl like:

    La Ardilla roja (1993)
    http://us.imdb.com/Title?0106305

    or maybe:

    Tierra (1996)
    http://us.imdb.com/Title?0117909

    or:

Los Amantes del Círculo Polar (1998)
    http://us.imdb.com/Title?0133363

Das Boot (Ger) ... one of the best movies I've ever seen. I kinda hated the ending though.
I mean ok they were German nazis (most of them didn't even root for Hitler) but IMHO they didn't really deserve what they got (if you've actually watched the movie you know what I'm talking about...)

A lot of mention of good foreign films that I've seen like BR, Audition & Amelie.

Some other good ones I've seent recently:

My Wife Is A Gangster, an extremely funny Korean black comedy.
Kikujiro, surprisingly a great light-hearted Beat Takashi film.
    Yojimbo, classic samurai film.
Attack The Gas Station, decent Korean comedy.

La Haine rules, one of my all time favourite films. Still can't beat that camera zooming out across the French tower blocks with the guy scratching away.
