For a modern horror film, the Japanese film Ring is freaky as fuck.
Does anyone know when that comes out in the US? Its gonna be released in England cut and I wanna catch the MGM DVD of it when it hits the States (loads of extras too).
My 2 favorites are Spoorloos (the original version of The Vanishing) from 1988, and the original Carnival of Souls from 1962.
shinning
exercist(sorry me no english well me talibany thingy)
amen (hmmm it had 1 , 2 and 3 and it stared this boy named dameon)freaky shit
house on the haunted hill was okkkkkkkk
Carnival of Souls
The Others
The Haunting
The Shining
good call, both great ones. carnival of souls will make a lot of modern horror movies (one in particular) seem much less original.Originally posted by Curly

for my money the scariest movies ever made are:
eraserhead (also some of lynch's shorts)
the exorcist
silence of the lambs
altered states
repulsion
night of the hunter
sisters
Ya, after watching Carnival of Souls it's rather easy to see where George Romero took some inspiration from when he made Night of the Living Dead.Originally posted by Da Cap'n

jason and halloween movies, they were the best ever
Ringu and The Exorcist.
Favourite movies in the genre has to be the early Dario Argento movies, like Profondo Rosso, Tenebrae, Suspiria and so on. Also be sure to check out Dellamorte Dellamore by Michele Soavi, it's great.
noticed that no one has mentioned The Thing yet, which is a really good horror movie, may be one of the best, go grab the dvd version for cool extras
*POLTERGEIST (The original. That movie fucked me up when I was little!)
I also think that certain scenes of the newer HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL were pretty creepy, although the ending was terrible.
I'm gonna be straight up, John Carpenter makes scary movies the best... they all freak me out, i recommend Vampires or Ghost of Mars...
But this is me u guys will prolly find this boring, i like them tho
doesnt matter for me, i dont have a WS tv
