sry, i'm not one for all these new "satellite enchanced" pos things that are hitting the market. Satellite is plagued by bad weather, bad weather=nothing working. While it may not totally be the case with dishnet equipment, it still can happen. I know cuz it was a job i used to do, wasn't worth the pay they were offering. Make more money at best buy, or futureshop for you canadians out there.

Honestly though, for the cost of one of those damn xmradio system, you could get an mp3 player with a 60 gig hard drive, get whatever mp3's you want and play em.

Wrong. XM radio is not affected by weather.

ya, if you want to hear the same old shit. if you want to hear new music that you don't even know about, then you need XM

I don't see how they could sell the units.

This initial method doesn't seem long-term viable.

It relies on a working subscription, does it not?!

OK, so if you know how to clone these, and you do so, you can sell it? Right, except all the XM guys have to do is buy one of your units, read the subscription info off the chips, and cancel the working account (and possibly prosecute)

Seems like a different method is necessary.

Lol, but if they had to pay you $400 to buy one of your units, couldn't you just go and buy another of theirs for $290 with some of that money they paid you and start all over again? They'd have to pay $400 and buy it again, right?

OK if you want to mod your own unit for your own home use then go crazy, but selling modded units for a profit is just wrong and those people should be tracked down.

    Retard.

if you sell one and it happens to be a clone of your subscription, and the providers (or the federales) buy one of your clones, they can read its subscription info and trace it to whoever's subscription it is.

somehow i doubt you can successfully steal working subscriptions, so it all comes back to whoever has the subscription is the one selling the clones, and you are fucked.

    Common sense is becoming rare.
    some question

I agree. Common sense would tell you that if some dude wanted to seriously make a profit off this, he would take the 10 miniutes it would take to figure out how to use a false name and subscription info for the unit to be cloned.

Can someone explain to me exactly HOW the companies behind XM Radio would know what account information is listening? Does XM Radio send some kind of information back to them? And if so cant we just disable the transmitter??

chances are, xm radio is gonna be hacked and or patched or what ever and there is going to be a solution. these days, there is always a way around everything. It happened in satelite tv, x box, cable tv, you name it and there is a way of getting it free and conning the system. i hate these little losers that think they know a lot about technology and electronics and say it CAN NOT BE DONE. people from isonews.com should be the first to know that anything can be done. but anyways i live in canada and i cant get xm radio apparantly lol oh well maybe some day we will though grinch

that is so fuckin funny!!! its so true too (yea fuckin right!)

im guessing it will basiclly be done the same way directv is done... basically.. just glitching up the recievers so that they get everything... or just susbscribe once, cancel, and somehow make it read-only... it could be done... someone start on it damnit!! im switching to XM radio soon...

thats exactly why you should work your ass off and try to write your own working script or use a somewhat private script... i mean mine has been up for well over 8 months now with no problem... just using the regular card... wonder what the p4's are going ot bring us now..
