Goddamn Radeon 9700,,,
when does this come? I was gonna go and trade in like all my PS2 games tommorrow for it at Electronix Boutique, but I called today and the guy said it comes September 20th! Their site says the 19th of september...but ATI says the 18th of this month...wtf? It better come this month
ATi is going to start shipping it to stores on August 19th so you for sure won't be able to get it this month. If you're lucky, you might be able to get it early next month but that's unlikely. Probably around middle of September is when we'll see it in stores.
Why? If they start shipping it tommorrow, why would it take a month to acquire??
that's kind of what I'm wondering. I guess it will take some time before stores recieve the card and put it on shelves and update all their prices and all that. Of course it depends on what store you buy it at so some might have it sooner.
it takes a couple of days for games to be shipped.. why would it be any different for hardware???

Funny I ran into this thread...
Was just about to order me a geforce 4600 when I saw some of those benchmarks for the radeon 9700 pro over at anandtech.
Needless to say...I have the means to go all out and buy the radeon... Is there that big of a difference, as far as games go? I mean, there doesn't -seem- to be. But I remember laughing at 3dfx users back in the voodoo days when games stopped supporting their code.
I'm just a bit leery I guess. I know that geforce has always had updated drivers and such, and I haven't heard much on the radeon series because the nvidia always seemed faster.

Yes, I think there is a big difference between Nvidia's and ATi's new cards. Of course if you have a 17" monitor and run all your games at 1024*768 you won't see much difference. I say if you haven't bought a GF4 yet, wait for the Radeon and buy then, it doubles the GF4's scores in some benchmarks!
Hmm...I just read that this card requires a mobo that supports AGP8x... Is this true? How can I tell if my motherboard supports this? It's the standard Asus A7v.
