    Default DVD-R media in Canada?

    Hey guys,

Just a quickie, would any happen to know any place that sells DVD-R media for a pretty good price either in Canada, or ships to canada? I've been to many sites, including many in the US, but none ship up here.

It's really frustrating since local stores sell DVD-R media for like 15$ each. Also, it'd be nice in the media worked with the PS2

    Thanks in advance,

    stokkes

You can get a 5 pack of Apples, (from Apple.ca), for $39.99 plus tax with free ground shipping. It works out to $9.20/DVD-R. The discs work great in both my v1 and v4 PS2's.

    Hmm,

interesting... I'll keep that in mind.

Any other options available out there? 9.50 isn't bad, but ouch.. I was hoping 5-6$ each, doesn't really matter if it's on a spindle or not.

You can get Princo DVD-R's from canadacomputers.com for $3.99, but I couldn't tell you how good or bad they are. I think some people can use them, but others have problems, (again, I don't know personally).

As asterisk said though, Apple's are the best... I've yet to have any problems with them.

atic.ca has some good prices on dvd-r's, but unfortunately, for those who don't live near the store, it's practically impossible, or just a royal pain in the ass to order anything.

As for the apples, 40$ isn't bad for top of the line DVD-Rs, but if discs like Optodisc brand work fine, it'd be nice to get those at a bit cheaper.

Basically, i'm hoping to pay 5-6$ per disc after shipping ($CAD)

In ChinaTown in Toronto, I've seen a few small places selling Verbatim DVDR blanks for $7+tax.

Much descently priced compared to Futureshop's price of $$10+tax

I think the Apples are just rebranded verbatims.

I ordered some TDK's from the states VIA ups. After shipping and brokrage (which is terribly exspensive) I paid 524 CND for 100. I have someone getting back to me on a "Canadian connection" to good dvd-r media. So I'll get the low-down on that and let you guys know.

By the way the TDK's are OEM versions of the currently shipping apple media besides the fact that apples are silk screened and the tdk's are silver tops. (they were compared with advdinfo)

Apple originally shipped pioneer's, then verbatim and now they are using TDK's. Have had NO problem with gta3, ffx or MGS.

Curious to know what people think of ritek media?

You can also try www.computerultra.com in Markham, ON. I think they're $44 CAD for a 5 pack

I ordered a 100-Pack Optodisc DVD-Rs from rima.com for $130 US plus another 20 bucks for shipping - UPS-Canada Standard. It took 4 days for delivery.
So far, I'm very satisfied with the quality of Optodisc DVD-R.
And that site, rima.com, has great deals and an excellent service. You can really trust them.

Edit: With PST/GST/brook. fee, I got them at $3 CAN a piece.
I use TDK DVD-Rs as well and I don't see any difference compared with the Optodisc ones.

I use maxell's and they work GREAT, HOWEVER, they cost 9.99 so I don't know what crack you were on when you saw that 5.50 price

If anyone in Vancouver knows where to get cheap branded CDR's, preferably of the following types:
Apple, Pioneer, TDK, Verbatim, Maxell & Fuji

please let me know through email or whatever (even if you are selling individual one's) thanks

TJ, which stores did you go to? Locations/Names/Phone#'s would be nice. I rather spend 7 bucks for verbatims than 6 bucks for princos

    Thanks

Do you mine telling me what store you bought these media from in the States?

TDK is a good brand, I wouldn't mind picking up a bunch at that price.

    Thanks

If u live in Vancouver Area theres this thing called "Night Market" in Richmond (Lansdowne Mall)Parking Lot its on a Fri-Sat-Sun and it starts at 7:00 pm-12:00am.. anyways there is one stall that sells DVD-R media (Princo) $40/10pcs. tax included.. and i think Princo aint a bad media since theyve been around for quite a while now.. and for $4 u cant go wrong..

btw when u get there get the person's calling card as they got a place where u can go and buy cdr-dvdr media as night market only last till 'Sept22 or something.. hope this helps :^)

actually I read on here that princo's are sorta flakey, not very reliable.

There is some pretty good generic stuff out there but princo isn't one of them apparently!

Continue to share your DVD prices in Canada (particular vancouver) if you guys get any links.

    WWW.atic.ca (on broadway) sells:
    DVD-R disk 4.7gb for Pioneer 1x $3.5
    DVD-R disk 4.7gb for Pioneer 2x $4.5

but they NEVER seem to have stock when I go there.
