    Default Photoshop 7.0.1 update

    Hi!

I tried to install the Photoshop 7.0.1 update today.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=1851

But when I try to install the update I get the following error.

The Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 Update program cannot find Adobe Photoshop 7.0 in C:\Programs\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\

Please attempt to locate Adobe Photoshop 7.0 again or cancel the update and install Adobe Photoshop 7.0 from the original disks or CD.
Have anyone else had this problem?

    I have the ADOBE.PHOTOSHOP.v7.0.FULL.RETAIL-FooZiSo release.

    peve.

I can confirm the update works with the Photoshop 7 version with the following attributes:

    04-06-2002 17:08 15900672 Photoshop.exe

If Photoshop's EXE file of your installation has another size or earlier timestamp, it's not final.

Same problem here. Also have the ADOBE.PHOTOSHOP.v7.0.FULL.RETAIL-FooZiSo release.

    Which version should I get?

Make that 3 and 4 people that can confirm the patch doesn't work for FooZiSo release. Nice retail final you fucking retards...

File size is right on: 15.1 MB (15,900,672 bytes)

But time stamp is different: Friday, August 09, 2002, 6:55:14 PM

Same result with the PS7 rip, Adobe.Photoshop.v7.0.Retail-CAT.

Anyone try with the RVL release, which I foolishly nuked...In hindsight I wish I hadn't.

Also there 'could' be an error with the updater; I hope.

Just found this thread on the Adobe forums.

Could be an Adobe problem, or they blacklisted certain keys, but that would be a new protection scheme for them.

ADOBE.PHOTOSHOP.v7.0.FULL.RETAIL-FooZiSo is the final version. I had a look at the 7.01 update installer, and guess what, it contains 52 blacklisted serial numbers. One of them is the serial number that was used by FooZiSo.

You need to change the serial number in the registry (key HKCU\Software\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Registration, value Serial) to one that hasn't been blacklisted (hint: use the keygen).

I don't know why Adobe bothered to blacklist the serials, since the keygen has been available for weeks.

Try uninstall and reinstall with a new key. That's what I did just to see if the key was the culprit, and by accident it worked; I was able to update.

My friend used this one Adobe.PhotoShop.v7.0.Keygen.Only.FIXED-SSG, which I guess only makes educational keys? Changing the reg key didn't work for him, and he needed to do a reinstall. After that it worked.

I used Adobe.PhotoShop.v7.0.Keygen.Only.FIXED.PROPER-SSG with a clean install, before I tried the reg key, so I'll never know for sure.

Either one of those keygens with a reinstall should work. Just make sure you back up your styles first, if u have any.

Geez...I must be in the helping mood today. That's what the scene is supposed to be about anyway.

dOMNAR got the first registry key right, but there is a second one you must also change.

    (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Registration)

    (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Registration)

Also, your keygen will spit out a serial in this format:
    s/n: aaaa-bbbb-cccc-xxxx-yyyy-zzzz

Make sure to remove the '-' from the serial before you enter it into the registry, so it should be in this format:
    s/n: aaaabbbbccccxxxxyyyyzzzz

ENjOY, you can now upgrade Photoshop 7(and if you think any Adobe patch is minor, you've obviously never used Illustrator 10 for any length of time ).

I did the registry key change and the update work with no problems, no restart, no re-install.

ugh, i've tried everything still no luck, changed both keys with the correct format, with the ssg keygen... i'm using the rip version released by LND..does that make any difference?

The update installer only examines the key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, so once it has been replaced correctly, the installer will run. But since the original installer apparently also writes the registration information to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, you should of course change it as well, or else the program itself might refuse to start (until this has been done, no need to reinstall); the update installer will still run though, no matter what serial value the HKLM key contains.

In any case, there's no need to reinstall or reboot.

As for the rip I don't know, but it's of course possible that some files have been removed from the original setup package, which could make the update installer refuse to proceed. Or perhaps it wasn't final. Get the iso...
