3d max problem

i got 3d max 5 released by paradox or something close to that. anyway it used to work just fine but recently when i turned it on it loads all the shit but it doesnt display the program itself?????wtf
i think i read about this before. Anybody got any sugestions

um yea. could you be a little more specific on "loads all the shit" maybe its your computer or maybe if you cant see the program, its minimized.

u know when u click on the 3d max icon then this rectangle apperas with a nice picture and it sais on the bottom loading plugins.....so when its all done and its time to see the program itself then nothing happens

it could be a graphic mode problem but how the hell can u change it without loading the program

If it's a graphic problem - start max by typing on the command line 3dsmax -h :-) otherwise it may that the Paradox version is a rip and has other problems, lol :-)

there is already a shortcut for this command and when i type it then the same thing happens.....i c the plugins loading and then nothing. also i tried uninstalling it and reinstalling. i erased everything that i found in the registry but when i installed it again then it new i already had a key somehow and asked me to enter it. I used the network crack again. but the same thing happend again

bro, i had the exact same problem, it loaded the plugins but the proggie never actually launched.i tried all the shortcuts and wut not and still didnt work, so then i erased the partition on my drive, formatted my drive, then installed win98 se again. i then installed 3ds max 5 again and some how, it said a previous licence has been detected, wow, some technology, anyways , after i did all this the proggie actually launched and worked find. i have cd1 by vox and cd2 by sinister, i have a voodoo 5 5500 agp. and i use a single user licence, try formatting ur drive bro, worked for me, and that was the only way i got it to work :-) lates

im just a starter at these 3d animation stuff....i mean i dont know one thing about how to use the program....so does anyone have a suggestion of where to find help

It could b that you need to update the display drivers, also 3Dmax needs to no wich display driver to use (software, openGL, DirectX) if it is set on the wrong option 3Dmax wil not load (it wil do what you say it is doing). v5 has (I think) a prog on the start menu to change it.

i know what u are talking about smokie but that is not a real solution because when i click on that program to change the graphics mode then again i c the plugins loading and then nothing happens

yea, i tried all the commands in dos, i tried updating drivers and wut not, listen to me, THE ONLY WAY I GOT IT TO WORK WAS TO FORMAT MY PC. i formatted, installed , and worked perfectly, it maybe was because i have 3ds max 4 on, but it was a rip, not the full 2 cd's, but i have the full 2 cd's of 3ds max 5 and it works, man, i said it b4, and ill say it again, format, i tried EVERYTHING, i played around with it for over 5 hours just sitting there trying, i then formatted, insalled, and it worked, try it man, if it still dont work after format ( it will) , u may have a problem with ur cd's, doesnt seem like it tho, since it installed, same problem i got, format format format! ;-)
