DVD and CD-ROM problems in XP

this problem just started recently, and quite frankly i still dont know alot about XP. Anyway, whenever i put in a new cd in the dvd or cd drive it wont autoplay or refresh the label in my computer. I can usually access the information still through my computer but sometimes it gives me an error whenever i try that. Its like auto-instert notification is turned off, but it doesnt seem like XP has anything like that. Any possible solutions here?

some programs might do that,
i had some probs with autorun
when i installed windvd,
but later it started working again,
so i dunno if the prob was that.

anyway,
clonecd has a feature, which turns
the autorun off...
but i dunno if you have it even
installed...
