Great! I will try it as soon as I get blanks!
Now it would be also cool to add some RGB lines to the patch.data! How did you find the changed bytes in Ikaruga? Did you compare an unpatched CDI with a patched one?
    What app did you use?

    Darkfalz,

I figured out this patch routine too when I patched Ikaruga, I did a hex compare to the unpatched version and found that the 0c84 changed to 30E0 so I also placed this into the ADR Patcher but could not post it because the site was down

    Here is mine anyway:

    Code:
    DC Standard 50Hz -> 60Hz Fix v2.0;0900011f0c84022ff2603188.0900011f30e0022ff2603188!

Q: Can it happens that RGB-Patching kills the VGA-Support. Have anyone experience with the coherence of PAL/NTSC-patching or RGB-patching and broken VGA-Support?

The reason why i ask is i have some Isos they have in VGA-Modus a doubled-wide screen eg. Sydney2000-NTSC, Deadly Skies-PAL, GTA2-NTSC and some others. Some of this games should be work as Original GD-Rom in VGA. I think that perhaps the release groups have patch this games after ripping to make them playable in RGB-mode by 60Hz with the disadvantage of broken VGA-Support.

Sega Rally 2 is WinCE...but it IS possible to get it to run in 60Hz...The old release of Gypplay ran in 50Hz in PAL DC's but the author managed to fix it in 60Hz.

Its probably a different routine somewhere..

Yes... these patches are for PAL users. As for WinCE games, I've had no success in patching any of them so far.

Space Channel 5 Part 2 runs at 50Hz although PAL Patcher detects the 50Hz code it does not fix it.

However the routine we found patches this game in 60Hz too so this routine is definatley worthy of being called "generic".

    ROCK ON!!

I just downloaded the new tool, I'll try it with Ikaruga tomorrow. In which format has the iso file need to be in order to use this? What's the difference between Dc Standar and Dc standar (alt), which one of them should I use?

    Thanks in advance.

For newer games like those listed use the (alt) routine and for older games use the standard patch routine.

Ikaruga needs the alt routine to be patched to 60Hz.

It can patch ISO/CDI/BIN etc... Adrenalin patcher is very versatile.

Try the normal patch first, then try the (alt) patch. As far as I can tell, the normal patch isn't a true 60 Hz patcher, it looks for a piece of code which is in many US (but few Japanese) Dreamcast games that tries to detect what region Dreamcast it's running on, and then sets video mode accordingly (as well as language in some cases). So what it really does is force the game to think it's running on a US console and set 60 Hz accordingly.

The second patch really seems to be modifying the code which actually sets the video mode, although I might be wrong. The above region code was not present in many Japanese only releases for obvious reasons, and since games are supposed to be made specifically for one region only, also not present in many US titles - especially newer ones. That doesn't mean the alternate code is present, but at least it is for some... so luckily we're not stuck with 50 Hz in PAL territory!

Btw Gouk, in case you're interested, I made my code by matching the bytes also present in the Virtua Fighter 3 fix with those present in Ikaruga/KoF 2k fix, so it should be as generic as possible - the other code arround it obviously is part of a different routine. Of course, you don't want to get TOO generic, because then you're going to be changing bytes which are just randomly in that pattern!

    @ Darkpfalz
I used the "alt" search with the ikaruga cdi and he patched it succesfully. After Burning the Game with 8* i had a coaster again.
After the Sega Start Screen it gets back to the main Menu and the laser starts getting noisy.
I had the problem with patches before and i wont try it with Kof 2k cause it will be waste again.
What is the f___ng problem ?

Lots of people have had success with this patch, including myself. I can assure you it DOES work, but it's only for patching it from 50 to 60 Hz. You say "coaster again" - so obviously it didn't work for you in the first place, and it's not meant to fix anything else.

I suggest you try different media, burning at lower speed, or as a last resort using cdirip + CDRWin to burn it.
