in my experiences you can expect 1/4 to 1/2 the fps under wineX as the same game under win
do you want my advise? If you like Linux and want to run windows games\appz, then get Lindows...It's easy to find some warez versions of this OS and it's really good...Linux look, and windows appz compatible
I only managed to play Unreal Tournament on Wine a few years ago, ran smoothly, a few texture problems, but at least I had something to do while working in linux.
By the way I thought Lindows developers said their OS is aimed at apps and not games? Do games work (well) with Lindows?
As far as I know, windows games work perfectly under Lindows...i saw some games running on it, and only a few had some small stupid problems. The FPS counting gave the same fps as if we were running in window$! The best thing to do is to give it a try :P
Personnally, I use WineX a lot, I used it for RtCW (Ran Smoothly) Used it for MoHH (Worked Smoothly) and I still use it for JK2 (Guess what ...yes ..it runs Smoothly
apparently WC3 also works on the lates build of WineX but I still have to try it.
As for the FPS, well the first builds of WineX didnt give a lotta FPS but the latest builds get a lot better, now I loose approx 10-20 FPS MAX in games.
If ur a linux user, I recommend that u give it a try (get Latest CVS Source!!)
I've been using wine for the last year, and every game (but SOF2) ran wonderfully on it. I haven't seen any frame slowdowns or anything like that. So go ahead and give it a try.
