Default UT 2003 hates me, what should I upgrade?

    Specs:
    p3 1ghz 133 cache (I believe)
    256 sd 100 RAM
    GF 4 Ti 4600

    The processor, right?
And I thought it was only because it was a leaked alpha/beta before... my god, I can't play on 320x200 with it all on minimum and get decent gameplay yet I play WarCraft 3 on 1600x1200x32 and get a VERY nice framerate... I'm spoiled...

    Edit::
    3.2 Sound issues
    ----------------

If using a 3D sound accelerator such as the Sound Blaster Audigy series
sound card, you can go into "Options/Audio" to enable EAX 3.0 by selecting
the "Hardware 3D Sound + EAX" options.

You need to upgrade to the latest version of Sound Blaster Audigy drivers
in order to get acceptable 3D sound performance.

Using Unreal Tournament 2003 in conjunction with earlier versions of the
drivers MAY cause severe performance problems (major slowdowns in the
order of 30-50% while playing sound) in which case you should change the
option back to the default "Software 3D Audio".

If your computer is hooked up to a 5.1 speaker system, you should go into
"Options" and turn on "Hardware 3D Audio" to take advantage of 360-degree
    sound panning, which rocks.
Fixed, now I'm getting MUCH better performance... but still not what I'd like... going to try the drivers.

    .4 Considering upgrading?
    --------------------------

For people considering upgrading their machines, here are some tips based
on our experience running Unreal Tournament 2003 on a variety of
    machines:

1 The biggest performance gain in Unreal Tournament 2003 comes from
having a state of the art graphics chip.

2 The next upgrade that tends to improve Unreal Tournament 2003
    performance is upgrading your CPU.

3 Finally, lots of RAM helps. With memory prices continually falling,
it's now reasonably affordable to upgrade to 256 MByte of system
    memory.
No help there.. although I did read that my det drivers are the "bad ones"...
    Oh and
If you have a fast graphics card, but a rather slow CPU you might want
to lower the World detail setting in the detail settings menu.
doesn't help as I'm already on minimum..

I did, that's what I meant when I said "gonna try the drivers".

Works like a charm, steady 40 fps now 1600x1200x32xall maxed .
Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

sauce, ya well - not everyone is a spoiled brat that gets a p4 2.6 gig gefroce 4 tti 1024 ram system for his 14'th birthsday...

Some people still are on p3's or goddamn 1.0 athlons and would like to enjoy the game too

    have a nice day.

btw, im thinkin of upgrading to Radeon 8000 from my old geforce 2.. My proc is quite ok, a p4 1.8

I was pleasantly surprised with the game's performance on my system. A lowly 900 Athlon with a GF2 GTS and 256mb ram. Granting I'm not running macho resolution but it runs pretty good, I figured it would run like ass...

are you stupid or what? if you are getting 60fps, it's running very smooth, however i don't even believe you anyway coz you don't even seem to know what 60fps is like which indicates you are just another childish prick who wanna feel good by lying they have such a good computer. get a life

    I got a:
    p3 800
    128Mb SDram
    SBLive
    Geforce 256 SDR

And with a little tweaking i get... 30-60fps
    At 800x600x32, with normal textures.
Make sure you turn off vsync and reduce mouse lag.

Hmm.. then my computer must suck.. i get around 30-80 fps with an amd athlon xp 1800+ gf4ti4200... now... how is it that "Specs:
    p3 1ghz 133 cache (I believe)
    256 sd 100 RAM
    GF 4 Ti 4600 "

gets.. almost the same performance as i.. yet i have a better processor.. could it be the 3d card?

Set the sound to software 3d then check that...Also, you should know that you weren't both talking about the same level...With the same number of bots...Or maybe the same graphical settings.

He might also have been talking about the benchmark, where as you meant the in-game frame rate...In the benchmarks, I get over 100fps easily on all maps, but while playing, I average about half of that.

For me, the sound "does" slow down the game...But I'll try fixing that later on...Either way, it runs very well, eventhough it would run a lot better with a 133mhz FSB...Which I can't get with this mobo...>=

Anyway, PZY, your main problem is the processor...since your card needs a way faster CPU to really show what it can do...I have the same problem with my card...Anyway, your memory would come in second, since it's pretty darn slow...but changing that and leaving the processor as it is probably wouldn't help you at all.

And, odanelus, if he has a GF4 Ti 4600, the second best card for games in the world, and you have a GF3 or something worse with a faster processor, chances are, you won't get his frame rates...Well, maybe you would, but with his card, you could get twice the frame rates he gets...

Oh and, from spec, before the game, I can get about 200 fps at times, but in the game, I get under 100 in those same places.
