I was just checking out how Naplink works for developers and hobbyists by connecting a PS2 and PC together with a special USB cable, then running the PS2 software and PC client to get connectivity.
I had an idea... now with the network adapter and (hopefully) lots of people connecting their PS2 to a router/gateway for their broadband connection, wouldn't it be cool if somebody coded something similar to naplink that would:
- have a CD that boots in your PS2
- have a client app that installs on your PC
- connect the PS2 and PC via ethernet connections, either by using your network config or manually entering IP, assuming your PC and PS2 are both plugged into a router/gateway/switch
- let you transfer memory card saves to and from your ps2!
This would be awesome... you wouldn't have to buy a sharkport or some shit like that, the potential for connectivity between PC and PS2 is already there... you would just need the software!
Sometimes I wish I had decided to be a programmer... I'd be doing this right now.
