    Default Is this Video Card any good?

    I really dont know much about video cards and I was gonna get a new video card and I had my eye on this one. I wanted to know from any of the experts how good this is or how good to they think it is. Just need a lil feedback.

    MSI GeForce4 Ti 4400 (MS-8871)

    MSI GEFORCE4 TITANIUM G4TI4400-VTD 8871-020 GEFORCE 4 Ti4400 128MB DDR 4X AGP W/ TV-OUT VGA, RETAIL

    Chipset : Nvidia

    MSI Feature
    MSI Live VGA BIOS
    MSI Live VGA Driver
    InterVideo WinProducer/WinCoder Ver2.0
    MSI 3D!Turbo Experience™!
    MSI DVD Player

    Support Memory
    128MB DDR SDRAM

    Video Output Function
    TV-out (S-Video connector)
    Video-in
    DVI Connector

    I have only one question if this is a pretty good vid card. I have Rambus memory and I see under support memory that it says SDRAM... does that have anything to to with my RAM. Is it compatible.

    bottleneck means holding back the performance from the graphics card..all parts in a computer must work togheter u know
    *example* having a p66 cpu and a geforce4 ..then your cpu would be the bottleneck...having a p4 2.4 and a voodoo 2 card..then your vidcard is the bottleneck.
    those examples were extreme but you get the point.

    I dont really know if your cpu would be a bottleneck for your graphic card...i dont think it would be a problem anyway.

    btw..notice that Sk80rDiE wrote jk (just kidding) after all else he wrote

    all geforce 4 are made the same, only thing you need to watch out for, is the speed of the RAM

    http://www.hardware-testdk.com/test_show.asp?id=1061
    is probley the 3rd best card out there, nice ram.

    4.0ns=500MHz

    3.8ns=525MHz

    3.6ns=550MHz

    3.3ns=600MHz

    2.8ns=715MHz

    see the differences?

    I like the review site... thanx. One thing though. Those numbers up top... I really dont understand. I also dont understand the overclocking that the review site was talking about.

    when you buy the geforce4 videocard, it comes with a cdrom, which includes drivers, and software..
    the software always include programs to overclock your videocard. turnning up the speed of the core clock settings, and memroy clock settings.
    its alwasys set on defult, but you can turn it up alittle to get alittle boost.

    the ns is just the type of memory it is. i dunno what it means, but all i know is that the lower the ns is, the faster the memory is.

    thats why some reviews say the gf4 ti4200 64mb videocard beats the gf4 ti4200 128mb. its because the 64mb version has better ram, then the 128 version.

    Oh okay. In the little review the guy gave he was saying how the card wasnt really good for overclocking and I know from what I have read that you have to be careful when overclocking and you have to be sure to keep everything cool and keep everything at the right temperature. Will I know how far to actually overclock my card with this cd-rom without overheating it? Or will I just have to figure it out?

    its not a good overclocking card, because of the cooling, the HFS on that videocard is noisy, and not all that great, if you do get that card, go pick up the ThermalTake Gf4 cooler. it comes with a copper HFS, and copper memory heatsink.

    My gaingward came with all that shit, Gainward videocards are the best out of all cards.

    How hard or easy are the ThermalTake Gf4 coolers to install. I wouldnt want to mess my card up or anything. Do i have to put stuff like the Artic Silver on it or anything? Also, once I get the ThermalTake Properly installed... would that allow me to maybe do some overclocking... or is it just no help as far as overclocking for that card no matter what fan I have.

    The ns means nanoseconds, (billionths of a second), and in this case it (if I'm not mistaken) means the time it takes to process one "command".

    Both GF4 ti 4200 models are great...The one with 64 MB of video memory simply has a higher clock speed for the memory...So the memory's faster...

    Mine for example has 460mhz for the memory and a 250mhz core speed...The other type has 250 for the core and 500 for the memory...Also, they say that my is clocked at 444mhz...But really, it's at 460 by default...Anywho.

    I chose this one rather than the one with 64MB, since they were the same price, and since "that" model isn't as good for games requiring a lot of memory (and future games which will need that)...And for the "other" games, it's about as fast as my card, so I don't see the point in buying that one...Unless you wanna overclock it past the speed of a 4400.

    Anyway, overall, the 4200 is great and not too expensive...It's really good for the price.
